Aqua have charged me interest, despite having a DD to pay in full

I have had an Aqua Credit Card for just over a year now, and last month I got my cashback of £80

But I also got an interest charge of £5.02 on my balance, despite me having a direct debit to pay the full amount.

I am unable to get in contact with them. They don't reply to the secure messages I send, and the number on their site (I used the geographical number for lost or stolen cards on their site)

For customer enquiries or to make a payment call us on:
0845 601 0436

Just gets an automated answerphone that reads out my balance. And from what it sounds like, it says the next payment will be my minimum balance

I have sent them 2 messages without reply on the secure site

    Don't forget that they are only open 9 - 5 on a Saturday, 10-6 on a Sunday and 8 till 9 M-F.

The 0845 is correct, the geographical number is 0113 244 8986.

Yeah, that's the one I used, had to key in my card number and DOB, they read a load of info out and the call ended. And that was at 3.55, easily between 10 and 6

Did you actually pay the full outstanding amount of the bill by the due date?

Even if you did, some transactions do not qualify for any interest free period (as is common with most credit cards)

Automatically comes out via direct debit. that's the first thing I do when getting a new card

The only thing I can think is - I got my £80 cashback, they paid some of the bill with this as the DD was the bill amount minus £80

So you didn't pay the full amount of the bill?
The bill should indicate the amount to be collected by DD. They can then only collect that amount - no more, no less.

If you don't pay the bill off in full, then that is why you have been charged interest. You'll get interest charged next month too probably.

I don't think cashback can be used to settle an existing bill. Check the terms.

I set up the DD to take the full amount, very devious of them if they have swindled me, as it is them that set the amount that is collected

I agree with this. I am sure terms and conditions states even cashback is paid - full previous statements bal will be required to avoid interest charge.

You have not made the decision to minis £80. They have so they should refund you the interest charge.
