Any keen bird feeders out there?

Is the water dish directly or almost directly below any of the feeders?
Birds aren't afraid to poop where they eat, and if they are eating above the water dish, gravity could be doing the rest!
They also like chucking their food about which could also muddy the water a little.
Is that another source of water above the sparrow? that looks pretty clean.0 -
I have a standalone bird bath which gets pooped in every day so needs emptied and refilled.
Feeders were empty cos I've been away for a few days, just refilled them and the birds swooped in.
Starlings have gone too though I see them flocking in the front field and hedges. Still got goldfinches, siskins, chaffinches and at least two types of tit as well as sparrows etc.
The ground under the feeder gets thick with unwanted sunflower seeds so I often leave the feeders empty for a few days when the birds all then eat their earlier leftovers.0 -
The overnight storm has wiped out the feeding station, it's lying on a mangled heap on the lawn. It was pretty old and came with the house. I was telling a neighbour just yesterday that I needed to replace it, so today's the day!
Storm is still raging though is abating so will head up to Oban.0 -
Still only getting a few birds into the garden use to get loads of sparrows years ago then my new neighbours cut down all the trees in their garden and they all disappeared. Only get 3 now that come in a little group bluetits and goldfinches just fly past not stopping. But I do get lots of starlings and pigeons and 2 blackbirds.I would like to be a glow-worm.
A glow-worm's never glum.
Its hard to be downhearted when the sun shines out your bum.0 -
My feeders have been deserted for the wild cherry which has a good crop of fruit this year. Pigeons and blackbirds are wolfing them down!0

Been out and got a new station - it's rather shorter than the original so I may just hunt on the web for a taller one. Birds were rather disorientated for a bit this morning but have swooped back to the station now.
No wild fruit trees here unfortunately.0 -

Fat Balls
Poundstretcher have Euro-fat balls in at the moment, 6 for 49p, they are bigger than the Dawn Chorus ones so more for your money and the added bonus of no netting :T0 -
Has anyone had any success attracting Bullfinches to their feeders? I have a few that flit around in the garden from a wood nearby but they don't come to the feeders. I've tried all the recommended RSPB stuff, jut wondering if anyone has any suggestions?0
