New central heating cost

Anyone have any rough estimates to replace an old central heating system.
Currently has a 33 year old Potterton boiler and 7 radiators that need replacing. Not sure if we would change it to a combi boiler. It is a 3 bed semi. About to buy house and it needs to be replaced. Not sure if any pipework would need to be changed.
I do not have much more information than that, but any rough guides would help.

Is the property even suitable for a combi? What's wrong with the old boiler and rads?No free lunch, and no free laptop

im just on replacing mine now so will give you my views.
3 bed terrace (not big)
changing old back boiler system to a very good combi (apparently)
x6 new rads installed by me
all new radiator pipework in 22mm & 15mm copper installed by me
The gear and boiler were supplied by a friend who got a good deal and he is installing the boiler and im in for £2300 which im hoping is all. Considering this is been done by a friend for cheaper rates than normal, this is even still an expensive DIY solution. You can get cheaper boilers but I'm a believer of you get what you pay for.
I'd say unless your going to do some of the work, I dont think you get much change from £3000-£3500
but there are many variables which will alter the price such as boiler choice, copper or plastic pipe, radiator sizes etc etc etc
hope this slightly helps?0 -
Thanks that does help. We would want to get a good quality boiler.
The reason we want to change it is current owner says it is not very efficient and she was going to replace it if she had been staying. Also a few radiators have started to corrode. If we need to get repairs done it could be costly so would rather start from scratch and replace.
We may not necessarily get a combi. Obviousy if we get the place we would look into more detail what would be the best system.0 -
dave what boiler are you getting ? we can tell you if a good one or not
OP, lots of boilers aren't very efficient however it's not very MSE to replace a working boiler for this reason as the payback time is about 10 yrs, by which time you may need a new boiler anyway, if it ain't broke don't fix it, look at the boiler again if & when it starts costing you money to repairI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Go for the Viessmann 200 series (made for European market) over the 100 (designed for the more 'cost conscious' UK market), should only add a few hundred to the install cost. 5 year parts & labour manufacturer's warranty if installed by a Viessmann trained installer.0 -
4 bed detached with Valliant Combi and 8 radiators + towel radiator was £4500.
My last development of a 2 bed terrace was £2500 for a ?? Combi with 7 radiators.
Get lots of quotes is my best advice, and don't always for the cheapest.--- Warning: Grumpy Old Man in Training ---0 -
If you want to put it off for a few years, a good flush, refill and service might be worthwhile to get the old system working efficiently - a lot cheaper (I've never done, so can't advice prices).--- Warning: Grumpy Old Man in Training ---0

We had ours fitted last year. Veismann with 2 new radiators as others were alright in the house but changed all their valves and one moved from one wall to another. Cost us £25000
