I've got a Ikea Helmer drawer unit with the Antonius inserts (totally copied from this wonderful blogger - http://www.lipglossiping.com/2012/04/the-perfect-ikea-makeup-storage-solution-for-less-than-youd-think/ ) It's perfect. I've also got a tall Ikea Billy Bookcase (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60085713/ ) for all my skincare. Each shelf perfectly holds two glossy box boxes side by side so that everything can be kept together, cleansers/scrubs in one, serums/masks in another, toners, body stuff, lip/eye care, hand stuff, hair stuff, perfumes, etc
I second this! Helmers are an absolute God send if you want to get organised on a budget. If you've got the money the Alex range from Ikea is nicer looking IMO and probably more sturdy.
I have my make up and nail colours in 2 Helmers units. I bought mine last year and they're holding up pretty well considering the weight of the products in them.
I keep my other nail care bits and bobs, nail art things, skincare, body care, haircare , electricals etc in separate plastic crates under my bed.
A little tip: If you're storing a lot of nail varnish in your Helmers make sure you use the bottom drawers. Otherwise the weight of the open drawer will tip the unit over!0 -
Look out for an empty Steradent (or similar) packaging container on the supermarket shelf. They are made of polystyrene and have lots of recesses for the denture cleanser to be kept upright in whilst on display. They only get thrown away by the supermarket once the products have all been sold. These recesses are just the right size for lipsticks (or other tube-shaped make-up products) and it keeps them tidy and upright in your drawer - easy to find the one you want.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0

I had some open corner shelves that held all of my potions, and tbh were a bit of an eye-sore. I have now have these baskets http://www.wilko.com/bathroom-storage/wilko-baskets-split-wood-white-x-3/invt/0310698 and have all my bottles in the big one and make up and hair stuff (bobbles, clips etc) in the smaller ones. I keep a small make up bag with my every day bits and then I can just pop that on the dressing table and then chuck it back when I'm done. I did quite like these as well http://www.wilko.com/bathroom-storage/wilko-storage-unit-2-drawer-split-wood-white/invt/03107070

Thank you the helmers and alex units look great.
Do any of you have tips on how to pack all my toiletries, cosmetics, hair stuff, nail varnish etc. when moving home?
Books and folders go in boxes, and clothes in suitcases but my beauty stuff just seems to be everywhere and theres so much of it!0 -

I've just moved - feel your pain - I filled a rucksack with make up etc. Luckily, I have a rigid beauty case which held all my nail polish, so just moved that. Bigger stuff like body lotions which were robust enough just got chucked in an IKEA blue bag - they are a godsend for moving house!
Now moved in, got a Helmer with nail polishes in it, some of the clear Muji drawers and the top 2 drawers of an IKEA tall boy with built in mirror for the make up I'm using regularly.0 -
I have one of these and it's brilliant and when friend's have seen it they have got one too, bargain too at £75. Mine is in a spare room, I keep hairdryer/straighteners etc in one drawer, make up in another, jewellery in another etc etc, it's fabulous.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

I use a toolbox from B&Q - similar to this one http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/handtools-storage-workwear/tool-storage-workbenches/tool-storage/toolboxes___trollies/B-and-Q-Aluminium-Storage-Case-Silver-Effect-9371872?skuId=9672577
It's great, has lots of little sections. I've got lipglosses in one, eyeliners & mascara in another, brushes, sponges, etc in another, and so on.
Ideal. And when we move house, I can just fasten the clips on top and away to go! :-)Getting older is inevitable, growing up is optional :rotfl:0 -
