Not a bad weekend really. I managed most stuff on the to do list. We'll put the tree up tomorrow when DD's here. Then I'm away with work til Thursday, which is lovely as that means no spend days.
Things are going to be tight between now and Xmas, every penny will have to count.
I'm away at the weekend, for a friends 50 birthday, there's group of us hired a cottage, that's all paid for, but there's still going to be drink and food to pay for. I'm going to set myself a budget for the weekend of £36.

I went round to see my friend today, she's just moved. I'm so envious that she's managed to get a really nice 3 bed place on social housing for £260 per month!!! If any-one deserves it she does, she works hard as a district nurse and is single mum to 2 teens.

Did I say that DD did get the job at Macdonalds. She's just finished her first 3 weeks and delighted to have her first pay of £130. I'm so pleased for her, she's had a rough few years, and I worried that she'd cope with the work, but she's done brilliantly, it's been really good for her confidence. As a bonus she has her own money to spend (not mine:j) and free macdonalds, so hoping our monthly macdonalds bill reduces!

I made an apple crumble today, it was delish, and free as the apples were from a tree from my friends new garden. It wasn't til later I thought 'apples in December!!' We've had a bit of frost, but it's still been really mild hasn't it?

Oh what a mess I've made this month. There were some extra credit card payments that I made that I thought had already left my account, but they hadn't, so I have massively overspent this month, have £60 to last til Christmas and that includes fuel and my weekend away.
I really really must set up another account and transfer into that my spending money each month, so I can't overspend before all my direct debits go out.
My rent is due on the 20th, so I have 10 days to sort.
Realistically I can just transfer some money from my business account, as I'm owed some expenses, but this isn't the point. The point is that I still can't budget properly, I thought I was doing really well, but add a little pressure, Christmas & birthdays and look what happens.
My New Now Resolution
1. Pay off my over draft, next debt priority. (See 1 debt 100 days)
2. Open another account to transfer spending money in to. If I do this right away I'll be overdrawn quicker and will pay more bank charges, so I need to manage this better until I've paid off my overdraft.
3. Start putting money aside for car and clothes, at the moment I don't save for them, they just come out of my spending money, so not properly budgeted for. Buying shoes for kids and new school uniform in the last month has been a hit, I wish they'd stop growing ( or stop washing their school shirts with a biro!!)

Working away this week, so until Thursday night I can just plan and think, and read the forums, and wonder why I still can't get the hang of this properly.

Well what a busy week. The girly weekend away was brilliant, we had such a great chilled time. I overspent by £9 though.
I arrived home this afternoon,cooked roast, unpacked, washed, and am just packing again as I'm working away for 3 days, so that should be 3 NSDs in a row.
I might just make until payday without having to transfer any money anywhere, or use the CC's and the good news is that we're getting paid 4 days early this month, a week tomorrow. That'll make January a long 5 week month.
My Amazon cheque cleared, I forgot about that, so that eases things by £60.
I've added some extra savings pots to my bank account, so on the first of each month I have the following leaving my account.
£50 Holiday
£50 Xmas/Birthday
£66 Car (Insurance/MOT/repairs/service/tyres)
£50 Emergency Savings
£40 Clothes/Hair (me and 2 teens)

Cards are posted, pressies wrapped, and a very full on week at work. Friday I have off as DD is having an op to remove 5 teeth, and then it's on with the braces, bless her. She's doing really well with her new job, and has managed not to spend most of her pay. She even said 'can you led me some money til payday so i can buy some presents', I asked why she couldn't spend her wages that were in the bank, she said she didn't want her bank account to look too low. Seems like she hasn't got my bad habits. Needless to say I said NO!

I also found some Austin Reed work trousers for £6 that fitted perfectly, and considering my inside leg is 36" they were quite a find, did I need them - YES, my other work trousers are about fit for the bin.

Blimey skinneylatte I don't thing my outside leg to waist is 36". I feel even more of a shorty now.

I like the idea of a now resolution as New Years ones always fail for me.

Parsniphead you mentioned this before I had a chance lol my inside leg is 28" I am vertically challenged!

Thanks for the comments lozzy and parsnip, you guys are in the normal height range I'm sure, its my lanky legs that make charity shop finds a rarity.
Well I'm working abroad this week, which means nice hotel, and this ones luverly. Ironic that I'm living the life, with hardly a penny to my name. Lots of toiletries and tea bags to take home

There's a note by my bed that's says to call house keeping if I need a quran, bible, prayer rug, anti allergy pillow, soft pillow, hard pillow, glass vase (!) ceramic vase, or an extra bed, hahaha. I can just picture the poor boy from house keeping with a spare bed under his arm.

Not much to report on the debt busting front, as I'm away I can't be spending anything. And no travel to work costs. and I get paid milage to the airport.

I'm glad today was the shortest day because it really was PANTS :mad:
DD's operation was yesterday, and last night she went to a party, and then didn't come home. Today she's felt so ill, saying she realised what a stupid thing it was to do, go out the evening of having a general anesthetic, and what does she do this evening - goes out with BF :mad::mad:
I've had 48hours of difficult stuff and I'm emotional and exhausted. I've no idea how much money I've spent, I'm past caring.
I've even opened my Mum's blackcurrant vodka that I was saving for Christmas, well it's nearly Christmas isn't it :beer:

There's only one problem with my Mum's blackcurrant vodka - the bottles too small
