  • About half the stuff you find at M&S nowadays is good quality and thoughtfully designed. However, I am often left wondering who designed the other 50% and who on earth would buy it! Indeed, some of it is so awful it is difficult to imagine how it got through their design team in the first place....

My thoughts exactly! Some of the stuff is just hideous!
  • They seem to be having a "20% off event" at the moment. Lots of items in my shopping basket have been reduced. No mention of it on the home page. Do you think this could be the sale?

  • Seems like sale is up and running. £5 off a top forget it.
  • I think the markdowns showing at the mo are the 20% off ones, not the sale ones. Maybe the sale will come online later on.

I was wondering if the sale is due to start online tomorrow night or tonight? I'm expecting tomorrow as the 20% offer is still valid today.

I've put a free delivery code on the relevant board.

Simple answer to that is that M&S are now in such a desperate state that the only way they can shift stock is by having sales every couple of weeks or so.

What was a reputable company has now brought itself down to the likes of MFI, DFS and various sofa shops where the prices are completely fictitious.

The clothes are outdated, the prices too high, and the quality poor - and that's why they have to have sale after sale to shift the stuff that nobody wants to buy any more at the prices they charge.

What was the clothing equivalent of Waitrose has turned itself into an Iceland, and it can't be long now before it's taken over - it's the only thing maintaining the share price!

Not defending it but retail is different with lots of shortish seasons, Nextt save theirs up for the 4 times a year but other retailers do it little and often rather than having to store it its more cost effective to get rid!
