Thanks to this thread. I called the customer line and spoke to a helpful lady who is sending the replacement lid (didn't need to send the old one back). Mine is a 6 year 40 litre bin (semi circle). I wonder if this is the age they break...
Anyway excellent service.0 -
June 2011 and it still works! Thanks to all you tipsters out there and Brabantia for their excellent customer service :j0

I'm going to call them tomorrow as the catch in the lid bit has snapped. Will keep you informed.
Called this morning and new part sent no question asked. Excellent service.0 -
Same thing here - after what must be nearly a decade of owning it, cleaner snapped the moulded plastic bit inside the lid.
I was ready to bin the bin and found this thread - so glad I did! A new replacement lid coming, completely free, no questions asked - what amazing service.0 -
Just an update. Was about to buy spare catches online when I came across this thread. Phoned Brabantia, told them the age of my bin, (6 years), and they are sending 2 catches out FOC.Abandoned0

I found this post online over a month ago.... but forgot to come back & add a comment.
I just wanted to order a replacement catch after it fell out of my bin (I'm blaming the cleaner....!)
So I went on to the website to reorder, and saw that I could also order a replacement lid as the inside rim on my lid had been cracked in numerous places for years.
I was willing to pay for it all, but put it through as under warranty just to see if it would go theough without proof of purchase - can't really remember if I registered it back in 2004.
Well, a week later I received a courier delivery & there was my new lid & catch free of charge.....!!!0 -

I just want to reiterate what magnificent customer service is offered by Brabantia.
My family/friends thought I was nuts when I spent £90 on a 50L bin in 1999.
On 26/09/11, 11 years later, I ordered online a new replacement lid section via the warranty request, without a receipt and today 30/09/11 a new lid arrived free of charge. Absolutely superb.

the service is good BUT i am on my 5th catch since April this year :eek:theres only 2 adults here so it doesnt get abused. I wouldnt buy Brabantia againIf you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation0

I had the same problem as everyone else – the catch on my Brabantia 30L touch bin broke after must be 8 or 9 years or so ...
I called them on 0845 6024877, spoke to a friendly guy who checked the location of the Brabantia logo on the lid and said its under guarantee & they will send me out a new lid in the next 5 to 7 days. Didnt need any proof of purchase.
It was an expensive item and I did recall a 10 yr Guarantee. Suppose it shouldnt have broken in first place but excellent customer service none the less !!
Thanks very much for the advice on here all, I was about to try and buy a new lid !0
