Can you give your landline number as your nominated mobile number?
No you cannot use a landline number.
If so, all you'll then need is a landline handset that can display test messages, or I think BT (and perhaps other providers) can deliver the content of the text by automated speech. :)

    Edit:
If that's not possible, are you sure you need a OTP for every transaction?
I thought the idea was only for specific secure tasks such as setting up new payment recipient. If it's now for all transactions, they'll be having to send out a hell of a lot of texts.
You need an OTP for each payment you set up & also for any changes you make to recipients etc etc
Also, are you sure the system is that time sensitive? I thought it only requires you to be logged in. It's only how long a non-activated session takes to terminate that I thought was the controlling factor.
You have to put the OTP in within a certain time frame I believe.
Also, where on earth do you work? >100yards to a signal? You should be able to pick up a signal if you move nearer a window.
No mobile phone signal where I work and also no mobile phone signal at my home 5 miles away !!!!!

    .
Are you sure? Have you tried it?

So not the majority of transactions then, just the high security ones :)

I believe you are incorrect. I believe it's valid as long as the banking session is valid :)

I suggest you find yourself a new mobile operator. One that provides a signal at least where you work, or where you live ... or preferably both :)

    Edit:
You should be able to set up the high security actions like new recipients by calling 0845 607 0666 ... but you'll need a phone signal :)
(It doesn't need to be a mobile phone - Calls from mobiles will cost considerably more!)

I suggest your problem is not with Santander but between you and your provider. Since you are in the unusual position of no mobile signal at all perhaps you should not have chosen a bank that relies on having one and a little research could have saved you a lot of trouble. I assume your problems are not limited to banking

Maybe one of the banks that use a smartcard device (such as Barclays Bank, NatWest, Co-o, RBS, Nationwide or even HSBC) would be more suitable

Edit: Lloyds also use passcode phoneback but allow a regular landline or you could choose someone with less security

    Oi.....that's a little sharp......
Santander upgraded their system.... I have banked with them since they were called Girobank !!!

OK & to change a limited company bank account would cost me in the region of £600......
Edit: Lloyds also use passcode phoneback but allow a regular landline or you could choose someone with less security
    But thanks anyway

O2 tu go will work with business at some point soon hopefully - you can register for updates here: http://www.o2.co.uk/tugo/bethefirsttoknow

I know you need to solve the problem now, I'm just letting you know because I think this will be the best solution and doesn't cost you anything.
    What will your verse be?

  • MyBusinessBank which you were using has not changed since A&L. I think 'putting out fires' was the term used when referencing MBB. It was an ageing liability.

Its about time the change happened. Plus as you mention, you have a free business account, which they are ultimately improving for you. The platform you are being migrated to has been in use for over 2 years by Abbey/ Santander Business customers- two kids had never developed it over a lunch break. This upgrade ultimately aligns your service with the bank and enables ex A&L Business customers to have single view platform for all accounts they hold with the bank; amongst a number of other improvements.

As has been suggested, try TU GO with O2 or every time you need to set up a new payment etc you will need to call them to change it.

I am sure you can see the bank cant be all things to all people. This method is 99% more popular than carrying a fob that HSBC et al utilise. Unfortunately its only the minority without signal that are inconvenienced.

"How do I use One Time Passcode if I do not have a mobile phone?

OTP can only be used in conjunction with a registered mobile phone. Until you have registered you will not be able to add a new payment or amend an existing payment online. If you do not wish to use a mobile phone then you can still make a payment using your branch or telephone banking service."

The code is sent immediately and should normally be received within a few seconds (in some exceptional circumstances it could take a couple of minutes depending on network coverage). The OTP code is only valid for the current transaction.

If changing banks is too much of a head ache then maybe a payg phone with a different mobile network provider that has coverage in your area would be an alternative
