Tried typing BBC.co.uk in address bar, tools>make homepage(all 3) Superanti spyware>prefs etc. Can't think where else to try.So what did you do (to the FF config/settings) between "page came up" and "closed the browser"? If you changed none of the settings then you didn't change the home page, so it's no surprise the Mozilla page came back.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Type the BBC website in the address bar when it shows the website go to tools> options> general tab> click on 'use current pages' then ok. You can use this method for one or several pages to start when you open Firefox.0

Yep, tried that as well with no luck but thanks for the thought.glosman555 wrote: »Type the BBC website in the address bar when it shows the website go to tools> options> general tab> click on 'use current pages' then ok. Thanks for that. It cleaned the lappy but did not solve the problem. Driving us nuts, its sure to be something stupid or simple we are missing.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Try downloading Firefox 21.0 from FileHippo.com. The old version will download on top of your present version, no bookmarks or settings are lost, if this does not solve your problem you can use the the same method to download Firefox 23.00

If you temporarily disable absolutely all plug-ins including flash you can eliminate that option and we can look at something else, or did you do that already?

The first thing I'd check is the registry key in Windows.
If you close Firefox, open a run box and type "regedit" (and press enter), the registry editor should open. Navigate to HKEY_USERS\<profile>\Software\Policies\Firefox (N.B. I think "<profile>" will be a randomly-generated string of letters/numbers), and change the value of FirefoxHomepage to the URL that you want to use for the homepage (don't forget to include the protocol -- http:// for example).
Oh, and if that doesn't work, you could try typing "about:config" into the address bar and changing the value of browser.startup.homepage to the URL you want (again, don't forget the protocol!).0 -
Well that was a surprise! Lappy decided to do a checkdisk on startup , when FF was opening it did a check of the addons and now all is OK. Just when I was looking forward to delving into the realms of about:config.
Thanks all for the help.
