Have used Trex for years (and cookeen) for pastry making - mixture of say Trex/butter or marg re quantities. Took the lead from me mum who cooked with it for years and made the most wonderful pastry.:A

They have lovely recipes on their website :T:T:T

hiya sylv, no I've not been poorly, just woke up this morning full of cold & a sore throat :eek::(
got drenched yesterday so that's prob how I got it,
had to wrap up extra this morning & make sure didn't stay out in it to long & had a hot shower when got back in x

My DD had bloods too this morning at rheumatology and she was asked to bring a urine sample in. I told her to make sure she didn't empty the powder out of bottle. When she took sample in to hospital they said she should have emptied the powder on this occasion! Oops!

Hello lovely Inners, i do apologise for sneaking in especially as I have only come in to vent.

On 11th sept I won £200 on a National Lottery Twitter comp. Send ID as requested same day.

30th sept got told cheques would be sent "soon"

7th Oct I was promised they would go out that week and I would have it before that week was out. Was then promised the same the week after when it never arrived. Last week I was promised again that they would be sent Monday (yesterday) STILL NO BLINKING CHEQUE

Now read their reply to someone else now being posted Weds and will be here Thurs. Has taken the whole shine off winning having to keep chasing and getting false promises. Most winners had their cheques weeks ago. Just a couple of us still waiting and I am so fed up of it now. That money is crucial to me

Some say; handle pastry as little as possible, let it rest (chill?)

Mine was perfect, quick preparation + rolled with a jam jar. (rolling pin gone walkies!)

Remember from school:

8oz flour/ 4oz fat for pastry

4 / 2 / 1 (sugar) for Crumble or *Shortbread. (* or 2 oz oats + 2 oz flour different texture)


Euro - congrats on 50p.

(I had it 2 weeks running, more of a freebie than a win. This week just a reminder as didn't enter)

Hi all

not been in the Inn for a week, it's been very hectic and lots has been going wrong - my MIL in hospital desperately ill and having to have heart surgery, it's all such a worry and it's been so hard to think straight. Just praying so hard for her.

Sounds like there have been some nice wins - Wingo did you ever find your hammy and where was it - I have not had chance to read back?
