Ok so apparently its not a speed awareness course, which are all over the country, its a traffic light course (dont know how they can make a course last 3 bloody hours over 3 colours) which are more sparsely populated, so Coventry is about the nearest. Ive cancelled this one, but have until October to rebook. I know Im going to absolutely hate this and part of me knows that if it gets too patronising I will tell them to **** off. Ive been driving 30 years and know what to do at traffic lights.

Careful with that. If you tell them to F off you can get chucked out of the course, and then they'll carry on with making you pay the fine and points, without refunding the course fee.

I've not heard any feedback about the traffic light courses yet, but the feedback I hear from the speed awareness ones is that they're actually pretty interesting, not just an "omg, you're all child killers" guilt trip; and even experienced drivers come out having genuinely learned some new stuff.

Whereabouts in south Wales actually are you roughly. Is it an option for you to drive to a mainline station (e.g. Swansea) and then it should only be one or two changes.

i thought if you started to stop on amber but breaking would potentially cause an accident it was permitted to continue in the interest of safety.. if you approach the lights and as you reach they go amber then red (in some cases very quickly) stopping instantly - almost an emergency stop could cause a multi car accident.. which is likely to be the fault of the people behind him based on the "hit in the rear" policy...

you cant anticipate when lights will change so you cant slow to 10-20 everytime your going to go through lights.. and id say a large proportion of drivers have approached lights as they change to amber.. and rather than break they continue as it is a safer option.. anyone who says otherwise im my view.. is a liar

If you don't know when the light changed to green, you should consider that light "dirty" and expect it to change to amber at any moment. You then need to ensure that you would be able to stop, or get across the line within 3 seconds should it change to amber at any point.

That's the theory anyway. Not sure how bendy bus drivers get away with it.

That was really helpful, should get yourself a hobby or a mistress, wouldn't come across as such a ****head then. If you haven't got anything sensible to add, why not keep just your childish comments to yourself.

I think you're pre-empting the content of the Traffic Light course.
