The Lender didn't say how much it will cost

Options
Hello:j,
Could you tell me if it is a valid reason to reclaim PPI.

I ticked the box for PPI when I applied for a Mint credit Card. I tell you honestly I had no idea if I really needed it, I just saw the question "what would happen if you become unemployed?" and I decided to take it. I was too young and Inexperienced in this as I am from the country where they did not know what was the normal bank card at the time.

Anyway, of course Mint did not uphold my complaint, I went to Ombudsman and they rejected it too. I told them that the Lender should have provided information on when you need it and when you do not, as I was full time employed with benefits and my hubby is full time employed too.

But I also just noticed that there were no information about the PPI charges in the agreement and the paperwork I had. Could it be the reason to get the refund?

Thank you kindly for your answers

That indicates you were eligible for cover and had a financial need for cover (unless you had sufficient savings for a couple of years expenditure - although people borrowing on credit cards rarely have savings as you wouldnt be borrowing on the card if you did)

No. You would not expect to see the charges documented like that in the agreement. That only happens with loan PPI.

  • Thank you :-), to be honest we had savings, I had cos they kept sending me offers and I thought it would be good to buy tickets to go home.

How would you know then how much you will be charged on the credit card for PPI.

Thank you very much for your time to answer me :-)

It would normally say it on the the statement.

  • As above, but only if the statement had an outstanding balance. If you paid the balance off every month, you would not have paid any PPI.
