buyers address has no house number...

I've sold an item and as i used myhermes which auto fills the address i didn't notice it didn't have the house number....I've just noticed an email stating it's being returned because of this.....i've checked the "order details" and indeed it doesn't have a number...
the problem is I'm moving in the morning and my internet will be off for a few days and quite frankly I have more important things to worry about....
Of course i will try to chase it up and can only hope they arrive in the morning........but if they open a paypal dispute will they win, even though it is there fault there is no number in their paypal address....after all i have honoured my part by posting to shown address and have the myhermes details....?
ps, just to add...the house does have a number, as she now tells me a week after posting!!!

Irrespective of the fact that it was your buyer who made the error on the shipping address, they will win a paypal dispute as you won't be able to show delivery of the goods.
Your best bet might be to contact Myhermes tomorrow and see if they will redirect the returned package to your new address.0 -
just received an email in response to mine asking why she hasn't added her home number.
Well with regards, everything else I have ordered has made it to me without the number on it. I've bought loads recently and this is the only thing I've had any problems with.
don't you just wanna slap some people......grrrrNever put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -
The missing house number has been attributed to a glitch by EBay. So it may not be the buyers fault. From the eBay boards consensus, the buyer enters the number but eBay removes it when they checkout. As a seller, all you cando it double check. As you had to select an address (I assume) from Hermes why was it not evident then?0

Happens to me about once a month - I put it down to sloppiness of the buyer, given some of the appalingly formatted addresses I receive.0

From her reply it doesn't sound like a glitch to me.....theonlywayisup wrote: »The missing house number has been attributed to a glitch by EBay. So it may not be the buyers fault. As for Hermes, you select a name, i was posting a lot of things that day and besides the street was called Mosside so could easily have assumed that a name, rather than number of house.
I've emailed hermes so hopefully will redirect....
I'm expecting to be out of pocket!
Anyway internet goes off this morning so can only wait and see, no response as of yet.Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -

How can her reply make it not sound like a glitch unless it was along the lines of her purposely not adding it?

If you frequent the PS boards, you will know it IS a glitch, one that is confirmed by Ebay, but doesn't affect all accounts, so they are finding it difficult to fix.0 -
so was delivery attempted or did they not attempt it because there was no number, my mothers house has no number, so would they never try and deliver to her.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

Not all houses have numbers, but the OP was suggesting this address needed a number but it was omitted.
I don't have a house number (I don't have a street name) but that's not to say I wouldn't get deliveries, I do, because my address is correct without those things.0 -
For the last few years ive checked every address before posting. Quite a lot of postcodes are wrong - amazing that people do not even know where they live.
When i contact buyers, i often get "just post the effin thing to the address given".
Some of the nicer Ebayers point out they have no house name OR number "but the postman knows who its for".
Problem is, couriers such as Hermes don't - and thats why buyers should give as much detail as possible. They soon moan when it does not arrive.0
