Unfortunately I have no access to the tips in the first place; plus she is technically being supported by the business owners - although they refuse to get actively involved themselves.
They have to if they are trying to implement the new rules.

It has to come from them not a co worker.

Ok fair enough. Though I would say the owners ARE actively involved as they are keeping the tips for themselves!

I do admire your willingness to take a stand on this :T

To put it another way; they don't seem to want it to appear that they are involved in any way.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

They've never had anything to do with the distribution of tips (although I'm sure they would argue that they have always allowed it). The girl who sent the e-mail, and the big boss' wife are the only two with a key to the tips box.

I have heard that the tips have been counted & bagged up; but so far haven't seen any evidence for this... I've not had any response to my email, though.

Tips have, indeed, been done & handed out. Hurrah.
However I never received any response to my email.

Coincidentally (if you believe that) I was given my contract today. Interestingly the T&Cs don't include anything about tips whatsoever.

All tips. When someone tips on a card, the extra tip is just put in the tips box as cash from the till.

I've only been here 7 weeks, and am not going to be here 3 months anyway, so I wasn't expecting one.

Hmm not the right way to do it. Are you paying Tax and NI on the tips?
