  • Thanks guys, much appreciated.
  • Last I checked, this was moneySAVINGexpert.

Follow some of the advice on here and it will be moneyCOSTINGexpert.

The Pro A5 oil was developed for one very specific reason - to attempt to stop the Citroen/Peugeot TD17 2.7TDV6 engine used in Fords, Jaguars, Land Rovers and PSA group cars from destroying themselves due to their inherently defective design of big end bearings.

Use anything else in these and you run the very real risk of destroying your engine -and these cost a fortune to fix.

How do I know this? I have two of them in bits right now for exactly this problem.

If your Ford/Landy/Jag/Citroen?Peugeot should be using Pro A5 - DON'T use anything else. It's just not worth it to save £20 on a service.

Hopefully in the year and a bit since the last post the posters' engines haven't lunched themselves... Bit late if they have though.

Interesting. Can you tell us more about this design defect?
