I rang the bank on the 30th of July with a general inquiry. (didn't even go through security as was a really general question)
On the 31st of July i wen to use my card whilst out with a business client and it was declined. I rang the bank knowing i had more than enough in my account and they informed me the day before i cancelled my card????
I informed them i hadn't and they put me through to a manager. The manager said they ordered me a new card and they would listen to the call and call me back within an hour to discuss this further.....
No call....
I rang a couple of hours after and got through to a different manager in a different part of the country who informed me that there was no notes on the accounts of the conversation i had a few hours before and no new card had been ordered. He then said he would order me a card there and then and lodge a complaint for me and transferred £50.00 as gratuity.
Yesterday (15th August) i went into the local branch to take some money out over the counter which was hard work without a card. and i couldn't take out the amount i wanted to.
I asked as to why i hadn't received my new card and the cashier informed me that it hadn't been ordered.
I am so frustrated and annoyed with the bank in question and wondered if anyone could offer any advice....

Not unless you tell us which bank it is. There is no need to be coy about these things.0

            My advice:
 1) Complain to the complaints centre. Details will be on their web site. I'd write, breaking down step by step what's happened and what's wrong. Avoid excessive emotion. You could ring - I just prefer a paper trail.
 2) State in your communication what you want. There's no point ranting. There's no point expecting them to shoot the three staff members responsible. What do you want? I'd expect a card and a further sum of compensation. How much is reasonable - your time complaining and visiting branches, your embarrassment in front of client, a goodwill sum to retain your customer.
It's a poor show from your bank. But they are just people who've done something wrong. 99.9% of what they do is usually spot on.
Tell 'em what's wrong, tell 'em what you want, watch them put it right.0

It's likely to be one of the banks which issue debit/cash cards and has local branches that offer a counter service
 So that narrows it down
Bearing in mind the OP's location of Essex , it is unlikely to be Yorkshire Bank or any of the Scottish banks (other than RBS) or Northern Ireland banksHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Yes, I would agree. It seems a massive co-incidence that one single person would encounter so many 'broken promises' by a single bank.
We definitely don't have the full story from the OP, and it would be lovely to hear the bank's account. Though of course neither will/can ever happen.0

I ordered a PIN reminder a while ago and the bank cancelled the card and sent a replacement instead of simply sending the PIN
Presumably the OP only has one account with a card
If the OP had more than one account with a card , he could have used another card also he would have been able to transfer funds to the other account with a card rather than withdraw at the counter as he mentioned in his post (unless the card and card reader are required for internet banking)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Coincidences happen. It's quite possible that, essentially, OP had a run of bad luck with their bank and managed to catch them at their least competent.urs sinserly,

If OP did get £50 gratuity, then that would be a reasonable place to start from.

I closed my account with Halifax back in March and got a printed form confirming closure. It confirmed the balance is zero and the account is now closed. Account is closed on all three credit files.
About 2 weeks ago I got a debit card through the post for my closed account. Rang the bank and they said I had £1.xx in my account and it wasn't closed. Went into branch, the guy said it had never been closed because I had a balance in my account.
When I said it was showing as closed on my credit reports and I'd received confirmation of closure, it was clear he thought I was talking rubbish. My bank statement doesn't show any transactions, it just shows £1.91 as being the balance. £1.91 has basically come from nowhere, caused my account to reopen and the bank staff are denying it was ever closed!
There's nothing more concerning than being told "I don't know what happened" or them basically showing they don't know, even if they don't actually say it.What will your verse be?

An interest payment for the period before closure perhaps?0
