We keep on getting a nuisance (silent) phone calls from a UK number - they generally come at about 7-8 pm..
I have been registered with TPS for 5 years + and have checked on-line that we are still registered !!
Is my phone provider responsible for dealing with this issue ?
ie) Do they have the ability to block specific numbers ?

No it is not their problem, but yours as you requested to be connected to the Publc Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and some of them are calling you.

It is your choice to ignore the call, or get a call blocker that will filter out calls based on your preferences. Check that well known auction site and search for Call Blocker.

I use TrueCall, but you may not need something as sophisticated as this (mine silently records all calls in case I need to prove or disprove anything said to me on the phone.

Most Panasonic Home phones have the ability to bar or block any incoming calls from a specific number.

I find that my phone system which has 'caller display' available on the screen suffices. It doesn't stop the nuisance callers ringing but a quick look at the screen helps to ignore. If it says 'private caller' or 'out of area' or a number that is not in my directory then I let it ring until the answering service kicks in. If it is a genuine call then usually a message is left and I respond. I have had several calls from 'private caller'. Eventually they give up until the next scam comes along. Just hope it costs them to be connected but get no live response!

we have bought the BT6500 phones and all calls have now stopped, you can block all international /withheld numbers as well as 10 specific phone numbers.

I asked my phone supplier if they could trace the gits who keep on phoning and sure enough it is an insulation company - number is 0604162345 - why do they not realise that doing this is going to get them into trouble !!
  • If you look up sites like findwhocallsme and put the number in you can find out that way aswell.

Thanks - but tried that already
There are heaps of complaints about this number - but no details on the caller !!

Considering the number is bogus - they're not going to get into any trouble whatsoever!
