I usually say its a sample of oasis (the stuff you put flowers in) if they ask. My post office now just asks if there is anything in the parcel that is against regulations, haven't been asked exactly what is in the box for a while now.

If there is no SMART listed on the online posting schedule then you do not include a SMART. The online schedule is more up to date than the paper schedule and is the one you should go by.

Re the online Schd. It has Include SMART in the relevant column, but in the column where they have the SMART ID there is none. I forgot to mention this was because when TNS were re-assigning the SMARTS on Thu. they did not ave enough to dis out for the coming week. Um! Now there are enough but TNS won't look at until Thu which might be too late and I guess I will have to wait a week extra.

No, you don't hold back from posting. You select the item to be posted in the usual way and it will then give you a drop down list of those now in your stock from which to select the one you include.
  • Yes that's very helpful, thank you very much.

I have another couple of queries please. I've just posted an envelope (Friday) and the 'next collection' plate said Tuesday. I posted in the same box two days ago (Wednesday) and the plate was displaying Tuesday for the next collection, so the 'next collection' plate hasn't been changed for at least 3 days.

Also, one of the boxes I use is very old and doesn't have a slot to display a 'next collection' day, due to its very basic design.

I think it's a shame there's not a small message box when you are recording the posting details, to show, for example, the second box doesn't have the facility to change the collection day, and it is not a postman's error.

Should I email and inform TNS of my findings, or just leave it?

Box displaying probably incorrect next collection day - doesn't mean that the box won't be emptied on the proper day - maybe the plate is missing, maybe the postman was in a hurry. I just record the day that is actually displayed as that's all we need do.
Box without a space to display the next collection - simply select the "none of the above" or whatever the option is. I use that when posting at my local post office which used to simply display the sheet of the last collection times. And now they just have a box for "Letters" or "Envelopes" (I can't remember which word it uses) with nothing else on it at all.
A "free text" box would just give us even more work to do!
  • I passed the box this morning at 8.20am (Saturday) and had a look at the display. The 'next collection' plate had been changed to show the next collection as Monday, although there should have been (and probably was) a collection at lunchtime today.

Re the 'free text' box giving us more work to do, that'd be fine by me as I like to feel that I'm doing all I can for the good of the survey.

Thank you General Grant you are big *

I never had a no SMART id so never knew that you can get a top down list. I will select one that has not been assigned.

When taking the cube to the PO counter what do I say to the cashier if he/she asks what is in the box. I am sure it to be asked. I read somewhere but it is many pages away. So lost in post(lol). I think it says just say there is a battery operated toy. If we say there is a tracking device they might flag it up or something.

Last time I just told them it was some origami. Well there is a piece of folded paper inside.:rotfl:
  • When they ask me what is inside the box, I say polystyrene

I get a few weird looks but at least it is the truth :D

Also explains why it is so light
