What are these wires?

My first guess would be someone has had surround sound off the TV at some point and tried to bury the speaker wires.0

It seems very unusual for surround sound (audio) wires? Are there any other similar wires coiled up in the same room (check the corners first)? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

Can't see why they seem 'unusual'; not everyone subscribes to the silliness of paying squillions of quid per metre for some purest gold, low oxygen, made by rolling over the thighs of young virgins, yada yada yada "speaker" cable..... some 1 / 1.5mm fine stranded (as featured) will do the job just as well for some dodgy Dolby.
It might not be, but that would be my first guess. If it's bugging the OP THAT much then he can go and spend a few hundred quid on a tone and trace unit and find the other ends buried in some pollyfilla behind the sofa.....0 -
Are they just a single conductor each?
Or is it a central wire with a screen around the outside?
I would say surround speaker wires, but only if there is more than 1 conductor in each cable.0 -

They are unusual for speaker cables as most speaker cables are a two core figure of 8 configuration. Regardless of whether they are oxygen-free or not!
Don't need to spend a few hundred quid on a tone generator/tracer, they can be purchased for much cheaper:

Hour 1:
Buy the above.
Hour 2:
"Oh, it goes next door".
Hour 3:
"Do you do refunds?"

Can't see any. There are 3 aerials in the house, two bedrooms and lounge. A middle aged couple lived here with their two grown up kids. I don't remember seeing any fancy equipment when we viewed the property.0 -

I looked at the exposed ends of the wires. One is more visible than the other and it looks like lots of very tiny silver wires all packed together. They spray out of the plastic coating where it ends.0 -

That just means that it is stranded wire - probably aluminium or tinned copper. Could be bell wire etc.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
