BT Infinity Unlimitited p2p throttling

Very frustrated at BT who seem to be sneakily confusing about their throttling of p2p traffic on Infinity. I have the top BT Infinity package which i've had for about 6-8 months now, its great but p2p traffic is HEAVILY throttled during peak times, something I was aware of when I signed up.
About 4 months ago BT announced they were no longer throttling traffic on their unlimited infinity packages, great I thought but my p2p traffic is still heavily throttled.
I have struggled to find the time to get hold of BT since then as it takes so long to get through on the phone or on their online chat (I did get through twice on this but both times couldn't get an answer and once the guy just left the conversation after i'd waited half an hour).
Anyway, I sent them an email on sunday to complain only to get a reply telling me to call them and that my ticket had been closed (with no mention of a telephone number). So I called them on Monday, waited ages and had to ARGUE PROFUSELY to get them to stop trying to fob me off with excuses and admit my traffic was being throttled.
Apparently any existing customers who signed up before they went 'truly unlimited' will still have traffic shaping applied to their account, this isn't mentioned anywhere that I could find on their website and their support staff didn't seem too knowledgeable about this either. They also informed the only way around this is to 're-contract' but they refused to help me as I am still in my contract term so essentially I have to lump it until January then ask to be moved over (I wont be moved if I dont ask). Soo frustrated that they can be so unhelpful and rude, so I went onto twitter to vent my rage and they contacted me again, firstly telling me 'we don't throttle traffic on BT Infinity' then eventually asking me to fill out a twitter contact form and they'd call me within 36 hours to discuss. Well I did this and now its well over 48 hours later and i've heard nothing, they really are epically poor at customer service!

To be fair, what did you expect? BT is all smoke and mirrors. Don't give them your business and steer clear of them (and Virgin). Go with a smaller independent ISP.0

Yes, I think you've hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately there weren't many ISPs offering fiber broadband when I signed up but as soon as my term is up i'll get away from them.0

If you've got Sky TV you may very well find a "new talk and BB" offer may offset enough of the BT contract to make moving to Sky Fibre earlier rather than later do-able.
Frankly I don't understand why anyone has BT with the sort of wait times to get through -ALL- the time and then usually it goes off-shore. No ISP is perfect but BT seem to offer nothing "better" and often "worse" than many of their competitors. All the BB services are cats of the same colour when everything is fine but it shouldn't be a major battle just to talk to someone whenever there is any kind of tech issue. I called BT phone tech recently for a friend with a phone issue - I could not believe how long it took to reach an agent- between me and my OH we have both Sky and Virgin and neither take over half an hour just to reach a human voice unlike BT. (neither are perfect either but at least once you can speak to someone you can move forward)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I'm not sure of this because I avoid both BT and P2P but my understanding was that BT are now supposed to be totally unlimited with no traffic shaping. Are you sure that the slowdown you see isn't something either your end or deficiencies in the protocol itself rather than BT?0
