meeting friends on holiday

It can work out well, but I think that is generally the exception rather than the rule. Some of my closest and trusted friends are a couple we met in holiday 17 years ago. We see each other regularly and have even been on holiday together since. However, I have also experienced what I thought was a blossoming friendship with others we have met on holiday. We swapped addresses, promised to stay in contact etc. I emailed when home with some holiday snaps and general chit chat about (nothing full on) and never heard a thing back! I never emailed again! I would imagine in your situation that they don't want to remain in contact. It is hurtful but sadly very common.0

Four years ago on holiday we met a really nice family, kids got on well as did us adults. We saw them once when our DD's met up once we'd all got home as they only live around 20 miles from us but that was it, haven't seen them since.
Three years ago, back at the same hotel, we met another family, dd's the same age, they got on really well, us adults hit it off so well that other people thought we'd all gone there together. We've seen each other 2/3 times a year since we all met, despite probably 200 miles between our homes, actually we're leaving tomorrow to spend the weekend with them in their home. I guess we've all made the effort because we got on so well and really like each other and have so much in common.
To you OP, I'm with the others, you either keep in touch or you don't, move on, I'm sure it's nothing personal!0
