I never thought about the possibility of gangs of yobs using it for drinking, other than that i can't see a problem. You're never going to worry about someone building an ugly factory or housing estate.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I wouldn't mind at all. I was looking at a converted church in a graveyard when looking at prospective properties. Unfortunately it wasnt big enough, but I loved the idea. A bit unusual, the dead are less annoying than a lot of neighbours you might have in my opinion:D

I would look at this from your perpsective, your future tenants' perspective and future buyers.

I would consider how high the wall is, so if you can see it from your garden or if the height makes access attractive for potential thieves. What sort of nocturnal activity takes place (go look at night, look at the types of rubbish that is left there). There are occasionally odd covenants on properties adjoining graveyards.

If it's just used for the intended purposes, the neighbours will be quiet!
So many glitches, so little time...

I'd quite like to live next door to a graveyard since you can be relatively sure they're not going to stick a load of new builds there. If I were only renting though I don't think it would make any difference to me either way.
  • We have a graveyard at the end of our garden, (with no church) and its no problem. Never have yobs hanging around it. The graves are all quite old and in the 5 years we have lived there we have never seen an actual funeral taking place so I have no idea if it is still in use.
    Our cat loves it!!

Living by a graveyard? I'd be dead against it.
  • One teeny thought...I have heard of an odd few bones "migrating" a few feet from an old graveyard into nearby houses...so there might be a few extra "nutrients" in the soil in some nearby gardens.

    You could call it moneysaving:rotfl:

True, they may become places for the wrong kind of social gatherings, but that depends very much on area. If the one near my old house had begun to attract night visitors, the residents would have found ways to make it less attractive.

a few strategically thought out re-opened graves?

We lived at the lodge gatehouse to a cemetery when we were first married. It was a little spooky for the first night and then it was fine. I loved the feel of being in the countryside while being in the town.
