BT Email accounts

just had an email from BT want to charge me £1.60 a month to retain my email addresss. have not been with BT for internet for years....time to look for a free email provider

    It's scam or phishing email. There is another thread on here this week giving full details.

    Have a close look at the web/email address and you will see that it is a pseudo BT address, not one of their normal ones.

    Just open a Gmail account, then you'll be ISP-independent forever.

    I do have a Gmail account, but I have had my btinternet account from the days when we used to have to pay for internet access as well as the dial in.

    So it's 30 minutes work to transfer your contacts over, send a group cc, change the default email address in some online accounts ...job done.
    The alternative is to keep paying BT forever.
    Why would you expect BT to provide you with a free email account at their expense if you are no longer a customer?
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    it may be free, but they must earn form the more footprints to there website with the advertising. have transfered my email account last night but causing me such a headache on my mobile as only showing emails from 2007. but gmail website shows latest ones.

  • It's their choice to provide the free service, they can remove it any time they want.
