Couple of bottles of her favourite drink would be ok I think
  • I got a box of Cadbury pralines last time I left my dog overnight with a friend, the box was in the shape of a flower head and has got 'thank you' on the front. They come in two sizes. Maybe something like that with wine and/or flowers? Or if you can't go out, maybe invite your friend round for dinner one night? Or vouchers for a local restaurant?

a wooden leg, an eye patch & a flintlock pistol?

In all seriousness, I'd perhaps think about a spa day or something like that, given the fact parrots can be a bit of a nightmare for those who aren't used to them! (I know I doubt I'd be able to handle it that's for sure)

  • What about a bottle of her favourite perfume, always a winner that.
If not what about a gift token for her favourite shop?, she could get herself something or a couple of things in the sales. Or payfor her to have her hair done or her nails/leg wax etc.
I would personally steer away from chocolates as there are better gifts and a lot of people are slimming.

But it is ok, most aren't! :rotfl:

What about a topless photo (oh no that's what I want! ;) )

Shegirl your friend knows your circumstances very well and is doing the parrot sitting out of her wish to help allow you two to have a holiday. Any present is going to be gratefully received I'm sure. Might there be something ie local delicacies at your holiday destination that could be bought as a thankyou?

I hope the two of you have a fab holiday, you deserve it.

In no particular order I'd like a magazine subscription, a voucher for M&S or the local garden centre or a nice plant for the garden. I'd be less appreciative of wine (I don't drink) or chocolates (I'm fussy and shouldn't be eating them anyway) or flowers (the cats always try to eat these.) On the other hand I would still think it was very kind of a friend to buy me anything, given that I would have had the fun of parrot sitting for all that time!

Incidentally the last time I did any pet sitting it was for my neighbour's three garden chickens, I went round to feed them etc twice a day. For this I got to keep all the eggs (yum) and she gave me a batch of cuttings for the garden and a sack of straw+ chicken manure from the hutch. Not everyone's idea of a good present, but I appreciated it!

    Pollyfilla ;)

In all seriousness, I would go for wine and flowers or choc and flowers. Don't go OTT but think a gesture would be very much appreciated.

You could give her anything....I'm sure she wouldn't expect a gift. Enjoy your holiday. By the way what sort of parrot have you got? I'm thinking of getting an African Grey soon.:D

I'do go with a bottle of her fave drink but make it a premium version.

e.g. If she drinks Gordons Gin, buy a bottle of Hendricks Gin.

A Blue Quaker,so physically a smaller parrot but with the intelligence and childishness of a large parrot!Usually seen as on par or,as close to,an African grey intelligence and speech wise but daft as a brush and rather toddler like! She's a sweety :)

African Greys are great and can be amazing talkers! My brother had one when I was a kid,it's how he discovered his wife was cheating!!!!!!!
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?
