Stingy or moneysaving?

Heard the other day that a neighbour charges his wife for the vegetables he grows in his own garden. This is true and she pays him! He reckons that he is saving the family money as his veggies are still a lot cheaper than anything his wife could find at the supermarket. I could not believe it at first. What do you think? Is he really really stingy or just moneysaving and can you beat this story i.e. do you know anybody who is even stingier? Hope I haven't given anybody out there any ideas :rotfl:

When I was at Uni, I had some friends who were worse - yes really. He used to live in the same hall of residence as me and she lived on campus, about 3 miles away. She used to catch the bus when she came to see him and as he had a car, he used to drive her home (ah, bless). He used to charge her petrol money, because it was still cheaper than the night fare on the bus. Not that bad, you may think, but he was fairly loaded and she really had nothing and he still charged her more than it actually cost him to run the car.
However, this is where he proved his stinginess - when they used to get down to *ahem* recreational activities, he used to charge her for the condom:eek: He bought them, as that was what men were supposed to do, and then said she could pay him for them on an 'as used' basis, as he was doing her the favour in not getting her pregnant!!
They were together for over 10 years and we used to go on holidays, out for meals etc with them - that was interesting at times. His stinginess eventually rubbed off on her - they had double and single entry accounts for the household (she was an accountant) and everything was run to the nearest 1/2p - honestly.0 -
I can sort of see the point in so far as he will have to buy the seeds and all the seed trays and compost, chemicals (if he uses them) and maybe things like cloches etc and often these all have to be bought all in the space of a few weeks - so if he is putting his 'earnings' away it will take the sting out of the bill for all his stuff0
