I feel your pain, bought a black car in Jan, within 10 days someone had keyed it along back door, panel and bumper. gonna cost me £150 to have it repaired (which it needs doing as it's starting to rust within the scratch). If I'd parked in front of a neighbour's house, or annoyed someone, i could kind of understand them seeking retribution, but i dont know who would have done it or why...

needless to say ill never buy another black car, probably only aim for silver in future...

Really?you can understand if a neighbour was to do something like this because you parked outside their house?! They don't own the space outside their property.

All I can say is, don't try this one on me.

Someone crashed into my car parking up (I live opposite a school so get a lot of this). The offender drove away without leaving a note, and the car was fairly badly damaged.

Problem for the driver was that a neighbour noticed, and gave me the reg number -- which I found out was uninsured. The message got through to the local Bobby :) and the car was towed away a few days later :D

That's how you deal with inconsiderates -- I dropped a few hints in a brief conversation with the driver a few weeks after that, just to hammer home the fact that people don't damage my property and get away with it.

We had a young lass in one of my previous jobs (she was in her early twenties) who seemed to get a lot of pleasure out of having affairs with married men, dumping them and letting their missus know.
I think that some of these people get a sense of power by doing nasty things.
So how's that divorce working out for you? ;)

Parking is a touchy subject in my street. terraced houses with no driveways or garages. most problems are people parking for free as they work in town centre during the day and it's a 5 minute walk, some people are precious about parking outside their own house. I dont understand how someone would go as far as keying someone's car, to me it's mindless vandalism, but I've seen heated arguments between neighbours due to each others parking...
The councillor has been pushed into putting a permit holders parking scheme in place, should hopefully make it all a bit more relaxed. I am looking to move house instead...

I have the same problem. I don't begrudge having to park around the corner if others have got there first, but I have to confess to regularly getting hacked off at specific neighbours who park just far enough away from the next car that someone else can't get in, reducing the number of spaces by about a third.

One one occasion I had an attack of the petty and deliberately did the same thing to one of the neighbours when there was only two spaces left, and they had followed me home. They remonstrated, and I pointed out that this was what they do every day, then moved my car.

The silly cow hasn't learned though, so next time the car doesn't move.

We have the inconsiderate neighbours as well, unable to park a metre away from the next car, so leave three metres, thus denying other people of spaces.
We also have some inconsiderates, who park exactly outside their front door if possible - because that is "their" space - no it isn't - you don't own the road!

Jase you sod, my blood pressure has gone up:rotfl:
  • Such a shame about the Volvo - one of the reasons I refuse to own a "nice" car anymore.

With regards to parking - it's a touchy subject where I live. I live in a private cul-de-sac which has a terrace of grand old Victorian townhouses down one side, and a garden on the other. Certain people can't park and leave enough space for other cars. One woman who lives here managed to park in "two" spaces recently. With the assistance of one of my neighbours, and knowing that I wasn't going anywhere until the following evening, I played her at her own game and left her approximately two centimetres between her bumper and mine. She had no chance of moving my 1.6 tonne saloon car out of the way with her small hatcback.

    Now she parks properly.
