FON login no longer working at BT hotspots?

I was just in a store which had a BT Openzone hotspot (as well as BTWifi), and neither of them would allow me to connect using my FON email/password. I noticed that the FON login page was different to usual, and was asking me for a FON username rather than my email address.
After entering my FON login details (email/password) I was taken to a page advising me that I had about £14 FON credit (I had never seen this page before). I clicked on the button to "Connect to the Internet" and it just took me straight back to the login page. Tried it 5-6 times and got the same every time.
Has the BT/FON arrangement changed recently?

Bt have two publicly accessible wifi networks, a commercial one and a Fon based network.
The below applies of you have a standalone fon box/router and you are not on BT.
If the SSID (wifi network name) hasn't got the word Fon in it ( ie BT-wifi-with-Fon /BTFon zon@fon etc etc) then your fon details wont work it must be a fon based network
If you purchased a fon box then as a UK user you will also have £14 worth of credit to use on some commercial on fon based networks such as openzone.

But the fon based stuff should work as normal.

I did purchase a FON box, and thought this gave me access to Openzone hotspots, but I couldn't get onto the Openzone hotspot in the store. Is that what you would expect??

Openzone inst a part of the fon network, so that's pretty much what i would expect, as openzone is a fully commercial network.

you should eb able to find something here : http://maps.fon.com/
