According to the quote to which you refer, the government has only welcomed the data - doesn't necessarily mean that they also welcome the interpretation placed on it :p

I'm not sure which quote we are talking about, but here is something from one of them...

"figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government showed show that new housing supply is at its highest level since 2008 – the tail end of the housing bubble"

If housing supply is on the increase, then why are prices going up? It's like a government-sponsored gold rush!

so house prices that a lot of people can't afford are going to get even more unaffordable. HAVE WE LEARNT NOTHING?, how long before we get the 125% mortgages , face palm
  • I don't give a toss what the government thinks. Personally, I welcome the fact that number of buyers entering the property market and house prices are increasing sharply.

Besides, if governments could 'think', then I'm sure we wouldn't be in the mess that we are. Some individuals within the government may well be able to 'think'. But I think they think different things.

    If I didn't know better, I'd think you were a turn-of-the-century banker!

    It's in the quote flower.
So you knew that the government didn't say anything about welcoming house prices rising but you thought you'd do a bit of trolling instead. Good work.

    Thanks for confirming.

If house prices are booming why are people still in negative equity?

maybe worth reading the numbers rather than the sensationalist headlines?
