Proof required for claiming

In 2011 we were delayed by 24 hours when returning to the UK from Bangkok, at the time we were given a room for the night and a meal, can we still claim compensation? I can't find our flight booking reference or email with boarding cards from 2011. I have an imigration stamp from Bangkok airport which confirms when we entered the country and when we left. My husband has a flyingblue card which will detail that he claimed the airmiles (I think) - is there any point in us making a claim?:)

you don't mention which airline, but see if there is a thread for the airline here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4552743 and start with the FAQs
note: if this was a non-EU airline EU261 does not apply0 -
Thanks for your reply. The airline was Air France so I am assuming that we would tick all the boxes for a claim?0

start with the FAQs on the AF/KLM thread. There will be info there on flightstats and you will be able to get the flight number from there and can then send claim using the template letter (also linked in FAQs) assuming the reason for delay is not ec0

Thanks again for your reply. I have checked the link you suggested and I think we tick all the boxes for compensation.
I am not sure what you mean by 'assuming the reason for the delay is not ec?
I have done the letter as per the template provided but can't find a UK postal address for Air France, do you know where I could find this? I have found two different ones both in France, one is their customer care address and the other their head office............confused!
Oops being a newbie isn't easy..........I found a post that said KLM & Air France have the same UK address.... Plesman House!
I will let you all know how I get on. Thanks to you all for your stories and replies also MSE for information they really inspired me to go for it.0
