please dont take this the wrong way - but why do people have bonfires?
my neighbours have them and it just annoys everyone. the smell is awful
do you have them to burn your rubbish? or just for fun?0 -
We get on fine with them and I don't think they would lie but my husband says he isn't sure how it could have happened as there wasn't much ash and it didn't burn for long so we still need to get rid of it all anyway grrHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I'd be surprised if ash that's had time to drift into their garden could actually burn through the trampoline. It cools down pretty quickly. How well do you get on with them, and is it possible that they're lying?
I'd expect it would be clear if a hole had been 'burnt' into the trampoline, so I'd definitely want to see it.mummyroysof3 wrote: »We get on fine with them and I don't think they would lie but my husband says he isn't sure how it could have happened as there wasn't much ash and it didn't burn for long so we still need to get rid of it all anyway grr
I would want to see the trampoline as well. The bonfire would have to be very lively to have sent such hot ash into next door's garden.
If it does look as if the damage was caused by the ash, I would replace it.0 -

I automaticly thought of one of those big tramplines with 'netting' and the ash burning through that making holes....
Not saying it can't happen but can't imagaine it actally burning through the actal trampline bit.
Think we need more info lol!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
It has no poles or netting around it. Can see this turning into a nightmare tbhHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

It could well be - neighbourly disputes can be awful.
If you look at the trampoline and don't think the damage was caused by the bonfire, get a few pictures of it. If the neighbours are trying it on, they may not be beyond making the damage worse.
Is there any chance that their kids have done something to the trampoline and are putting the blame on your bonfire to divert their parents from getting mad at them?0 -

Most people have them to burn garden rubbish unless it's the 5thof November. I think they smell lovely. Should warn your neighbours, though.Grateful to finally be debt free!0 -

Indeed. My instinct would be to err on the side of caution. Ask to see the trampoline. If you're definitely not responsible, put your case, but if there's an element of doubt, I'd be inclined to pay up in order to keep the peace."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
You wont need to replace the whole trampoline, just the bit that has the damage.
Find out the make of it, and get the replacement for it. Is it the bouncy bit in the middle, if so the manufacturer will be able to supply a replacement bouncy bit.
In future I would suggest an incinerator bin. Much safer way of having a bonfire and you can recycle the ash on to your flower beds when cool.
They cost very little in a homeware store0
