Is there too much space between post content?
Thick as I am, I have no idea what is meant by this question.0 -
Voted yes, as I think there is whatever your meaning.
To clarify though, do you mean the excessive height of the forum header and toolbars? Or individual post headers/footers and signatures, etc meaning that the actual text of subsequent posts is too separated in a thread?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I too am confused as to what is being asked so will hold off any kind of vote for the moment."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -

I am assuming it means the excessive white space after the post content has finished and before the
etc 'button line'. It is particularly marked when the content is just a line or two.
The gap in fermi's post above illustrates it well.
Made worse by the relatively recent addition of badges.
ETA: MSE Andrea's post just now illustrates it even better, since her post is shorter.0 -
I think there is, looking at a thread with very few posts there is an awful lot of white space under there due in part because of the fairly unnecessary blog feeds, twitter feeds, news feeds and email feeds as well as the COMPLETELY USELESS (and nonsensical positioning) tunechecker feed.
It is fine for those to be on the main forum page but they just create threads that are ridiculously long in relation to the length of posts.

Issues for me then:
- Forum/site header and toolbars/banners etc are too large meaning you have to scroll down nearly a whole screen height to see post content on some displays.
- The forum on default setting is too narrow meaning that posts are cramped and hard to read on reasonable wide/large displays. Forum width should adapt more to screen width as was the case before.
- Forum sidebar on the right takes up too much of the already limited amount of width. Much of it is not really necessary for the forum? Or perhaps can be presented in a form that a user can choose to hide?
- Signatures and thanks/edit/rely buttons take up too much room under posts. May be needed for BGs/MSE team perhaps, but surely can be slimmed down for most?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You can of course already unclick signatures on your 'visible post elements' under 'edit options' (User CP) so that sigs are not displayed.
What we need are similar opt-out boxes for much of the other clutter ...0 -

Is it the space between the posts or the stuff in general on the page full of posts?
Diagrams please0 -
Personally I don't think there is any problems with the contents of the box that the actual posts are in it is the stuff at the top of the page and the right hand column that needs something done to simplify.
All that stuff is alright for MSE but this is the forum and if anyone wants to see all that then they can go back to the main site.0
