Is there too much space between content in or around posts?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean either.
But if you're considering squashing things I'd just like to highlight that there's a number of people on here with sight problems and dyslexia - so squashing text together is always a bad idea for those people. Personally I like the layout of the posts and wouldn't want this changed.
As has already been said it's the junk around the forum itself and the annoying navigation panel at the top that most people want changing.0 -
I have clicked yes because for me I do have sight problems.
For me what would make the forum much better to read is if the actual boxes you write in fill the screen width ways so the writing is actually bigger because it takes up more real estate.
It seems silly when the space is there not to make use of it, it's wasted space when it could help a lot of people who do have eye sight problems like me
I find the big signatures some people have are annoying but do not impact on my ability to read them or the thread

The length of usernames should either be restricted to no more than about 12 characters or made so they split over another line once they take up more room than the date line they go under---that would ensure that thread titles which currently get squashed up just to fit in long usernames would remain as wide as possible.
These thread titles are not over long but you can see how a company rep username narrows the space that matters down.

Voted no - there is not too much SPACE between posts.
There is too much text in signatures, especially when using a screen with low horizontal resolution, such as on a phone. MSE Andrea and fermi in particular have long signature (and have badges) within this thread.0 -
I'm with Torbrex, I'm still not sure what's being asked.
However, (in a general way) space helps clarity and the ability to read easily.
Less space and too much content crammed together only serves to make things fussy and appear difficult to read. Imo.Herman - MP for all!0 -
In view of all the different interpretations of what this thread is about, I really think MSE Andrea should clarify things ...
It has reminded me that a few years ago, when a major redesign of 'the look' of the forum was being proposed, a number of members went to a fair amount of effort to suggest alternatives (with pictures:D). Some of them seemed a distinct improvement on what we eventually got (I think they might have been ruled out because we were operating an old version of vB).
Perhaps it is now possible to do them?0 -
i think there may be a difference depending on the format we use
i've been using stretchy one and there seems to be a lot of extra space, specially on posts that don't sport a signature
if i remember correctly the reason i moved back to this stretchy version was because the posts too started looking cluttered without any space
don't know whether to vote yes or no because i'd prefer the space to the clutter0 -

Thank goodness! I don't think I'd be able to use this site if I had to look at all the banal nonsense people put in signatures!0 -
Have things just got very slightly smaller?Herman - MP for all!0
