No they aren't, they are a search portal which uses Ask.com which will give you their results and their adverts at the top of their page that have paid to be there.

Quite about from them just being domain typo squatters anyway and trying to get around that by claiming to be a town website..

Yep.. Top two links on a search of "Driving License" are similar sort of sites.
  • i cant believe I have just been sucked into this trap! I have just done exactly what i cant believe others do! I clicked on the link thinking it was the application site and went through the whole process submitting my payment before i realised. It may state on there what they actually provide but I have just found out how easy it is to be completely stupid by not reading the actual site

i take it there is no way to get a refund from these people then?

    DOHDOHDOH!

Why don't many more people use Adblock Plus?

You will never again see those sponsored ads at the top of search results lists.

It will also banish adverts from many many places across the internet.

    Oh... and it's free. :D

    No, 'fraid not.

Their T&Cs are set up in such a way that by applying, you have agreed that they can start providing the service immediately.

This has the effect of terminating the cancellation period provided for in the Distance Selling Regulations.

No harm in asking though, is there?

If you paid through PayPal try getting a refund through them. We got a refund very quickly from a similar scam as soon as I opened a dispute, I don't think they wanted to risk upsetting PayPal.
