Goole http://www.goole.com is quite safe from scams of this kind
some sticky keys on my keyboard, and then sometimes go to correct a single letter and the whole word vanishes.
strange for a microsoft curvy keyboard0 -

so it is 100% clear they are not the official site
That site is certainly not 100% clear.
For a start, the big box reads "Click here to apply for your license now". Except it doesn't actually apply for a licence.
All over the site it talks about "Driving Licence Application".
In some places it talks about a checking service, but the main thrust of the site is your application.0 -
ThumbRemote wrote: »Yes, it's a big box. It starts by saying "Apply for, renew or change your driving licence online".
Do you agree that this is misleading, as in fact the site does not allow you to do any of those things online.
It allows you to fill in an application, so you are applying but through a checking agent, just like the PO will check your application. but i dare say these will be the same as the EHIC ones where you complete the form on their site and pay them and then they will go onto the official site and complete the official form using the info you provided. as with EHIC these are not illegal sites0 -

We are not affiliated with DVLA, the UK government or any official body. The checking service we provide can be obtained from a DVLA office directly at a reduced fee or you can apply without a checking service where there will be no checking fee payable
If you can't read that, you're going to fail the bit in the test where you have to read a car registration plate at distance0 -
On the home page, it says in huge letters:
We are not affiliated with DVLA, the UK government or any official body. The checking service we provide can be obtained from a DVLA office directly at a reduced fee or you can apply without a checking service where there will be no checking fee payable
If you can't read that, you're going to fail the bit in the test where you have to read a car registration plate at distance
I am quite well aware what it says. I'm not disputing that.
However, the title at the top of the page is "Driving Licence Application". The big link at the foot of the page says "Click here to apply for your licence now". Yet the site provides a checking service, not a means to apply for a licence. That is misleading.0 -
When I went to dr!v!ngl!cence.uk.com (obfuscated for obvious reasons) there was a big warning that were not the DVLA, just a checker.
They're not really deceptive, skirting the line for sure though.
People just need to pay to the URL and the content of the site.0 -
It is deceptive. They say click here to apply for your licence, yet they send the form back to you to apply yourself. I wouldn't go as far as saying its a scam, but they prey on those not savvy to earn a quick buck. They and their ilk are cowboys to put it mildlyOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

No they aren't, they are a search portal which uses Ask.com which will give you their results and their adverts at the top of their page that have paid to be there.
Quite about from them just being domain typo squatters anyway and trying to get around that by claiming to be a town website.."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0
