Re-registering with Experian

I previously joined Experian to get my credit report in March 2012 and cancelled before the end of the free trial to avoid costs. I have just tried to rejoin the free trial again to get another Report but it is asking me to login with my original details and password, even though I cancelled. Why I am not being treated as a new customer? I couldn't find anything on their website referring to this issue.

    Because you're not perhaps.
  • Experian keep your details on record, so you'll never be able to sign up as a new customer again - unfortunately its not as easy are creating a new email address....
  • I believe if you move home you can get a new free trial if you have a different email address. Bit extreme just to save £14.99 though.

Nope, you can't. I tried out of curiosity having moved last year, I didn't move specifically to try this :p

With Equifax, I was able to access several reports over a few years, then cancel before the 30 day charge and thus never had to pay a penny. Not sure if this is still possible with them.
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)

The CreditExpert free trial is for brand new customers only, although we do sometimes run wider promotions. If you don't wish to reopen your previous account you can always order a one-off Experian statutory report for £2. Details here.

I've had two free trials at my current address.

Not sure how. I didn't use any trickery. Had a new email address for the second account but nothing else had changed.

I've tried in vein to sign up as a new member with Credit Expert but it is clever - if your Name and Date of Birth match someone else on file, they'll say you're an existing customer - even with new address / email address.
