Cheapest way to wash up

Remember of course that if you are running hot water, say, to your bathroom and this is close to your kitchen so it uses the same hot pipe then you have already incurred the 'dead leg cost' - so this would be a good time to run hot water for your washing-up.I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0

The assumptions above seem to suggest that you'll use a dishwasher daily, in which case it would probably be as costly as hand washing or even cost more. Depending how many of you there are you might find that you only need to run the machine every 2-3 days in which case it can work out cheaper to use a dishwasher - although you do need more plates, cutlery and utensils. Alternatively stack your dirty dishes and blitz them once a week - beware of flies thoughNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

For saving water you should use 2 bucket of water in first bucket you clean with soap or other detergents. Then use second bucket with clean water to give final touch.0

Use a firm scrubbing brush and sand - No water, soap or electricity needed at all.0

personally I think it's better to wash up after each meal - once stuff gets dried on it's a pain to remove. a soaked washer-up sponge with a small squeeze of w-up liquid on it goes a surprisingly long way, it reduces the amount of hot water needed considerably.0
