Hell on the High Street.........

........ aka Sports Direct!

It was my first ever visit to one of their stores and taken in true MSE spirit - I wanted to avoid the £4.99 delivery charge of their website.

I've never experienced claustrophobia until today and wonder how anyone can find anything in such an over-filled store. if this is typical of their stores, surely they are a hazard in the event of an emergency evacuation e.g fire. etc?

Anyway, my visit was in vain as they didn't have the colour option I wanted and what they did have was 50% dearer than the on-line price!

It's a budget shop, they do tend to cram a lot in but I've been in six different stores and five were not much different to a lot of shops with the amount of stock but the one is a small high street one instead of a retail park and it is crammed to the rafters and you can barely move in there.

Pile it high and sell it cheap.

Makes you wonder how many more sales Sports Direct would make if they offered a cheaper option to deliver to store.

Well. neither of my colour options was available in-store but those which were were 50% dearer than the same item on-line so I'll actually only pay £1 more by ordering on-line and paying delivey- and will avoid having to revisit a store!
  • They are rubbish but they are cheap. I get all my work tops from them. Some of the trainers are good and cheap. Personally I don't have a problem with them. Pile it high, sell it cheap.

I would not describe them as "Hell on the High Street" more like "Cheap and sh*te but where else will you get a pair of half decent Nike trainers in all sizes for £27.99".

They are the Mcdonalds of the sport world.

Isn't there a fire hazard from all the confined cheap polyester and glue and the risk of static electrical discharge?! :D

You can get some really good stuff if you dig through there, although you're not wrong about them cramming the stores, I once saw someone trying to navigate a pram through there...it was painful to watch.

I don't ever even bother going to a store specifically for something anymore unless I phone the and check they have it in, I've lost count the amount of times I've made a special trip and something not been there :(

Sports Direct really is a freaky shop isn't it? I wanted some dumbbells but had to go back a second time with the OH because I couldn't get the pram in the shop.

They're not exactly catering to disabled sports players are they? Can you imagine trying to navigate those swollen aisles in a wheelchair? Tsk tsk.
