Presumably the newer camera has a larger LCD screen and these consume more power.
    A700 camera = 2.4" LCD screen
    A405 camera = 1.5" LCD screen

Even changing to the 2700 mAh batteries, the capacity between 2 cameras is so noticably different.

Last week, I used old A405 camera (rather than new camera) taking 400 photos all day, many with flash.
The new A700 camera cannot do this for some reason, probably need 3 sets of batteries rather than 1.

Technical specs. seem to show both cameras should last for 300+ photos at least.

Strange thing is, when the 2700 mAh batteries show low charge on new A700 camera & it keeps shutting down.
I put these so called "low charge" batteries in old A405 camera & they still work ok, do not show low charge at all !!
