  • I'm sorry to hear that OP but I'd never ever go abroad without breakdown insurance; and with a 14 yr old car that's just asking for trouble.

Totally missed them mentioning a breakdown company in their post then someone else happens to mention the same breakdown company. (That may be a bit unfair, they may just have seen the company and not looked into the cover).
They then try to say said breakdown company offers the same cover as the AA (which it doesnt) for £53 (although it looks to be £59 now).

    No troll, just spam.

I would not be surprised that a fourteen year old saab with a blown turbo would not be covered for repatriation due to the cost versus value of car anyway.

A bad spammer then when hardly anyone notices the company. But I think you are right.

sorry to disappoint but i'm certainly not a spammer. just trying to pass on a recommended breakdown provider from the mse main site for older cars with euro cover. and the poster who recommends the aa cover, sorry I didn't look into the full details. but I do think the quoteline offers some piece of mind at a very resonable cost

If you had scrapped it, you wouldn't get much of a car for £1700,

    .

Wash your mouth out with soap ! :)

On a money saving forum as well!
  • I went to Belguim for 5 days and got cover for £24 on line. It would have repatriated the car, got me a hire car, hotel, and if it could be fixed the labour costs provided they were cheaper than the repatriation costs.

Thing is I only drove 48 miles in total. 50p a mile !!! Still peace of mind is worth it.
  • A similar thing happened to us last week. On holiday, turbo went, but luckily, we had just taken out RAC cover. they were brilliant, have to say and diagnosed the turbo. An independent garage fitted a new one, changed the oil and filters. Did not come cheap, at £1300 but one of those things...
