Male dog feminisation syndrome?
Comments

I do a lot of schnauzer walks. On one of them a recently castrated male was getting so much unwanted attention that his owners gave up and took him home
A few months down the line there is no problem at all
I have no scientific proof but I think there is a surge of hormones a little while after castration that sends entire dogs mad:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Thanks MatyMoo. Hopefully this will all settle down then.0 -
Ooh, I've never heard of this before. I'm intrigued. My last 2 dogs were male but only the last one was neutered. I had him done at 10 months but there was no "unwanted attention" from other males. On the other hand, even after castration, my dog would still mount one particular neutered !!!!! we knew and we put it down to a dominance thing. Obviously the other dogs have sussed that something is different and your dog wants to be boss, by the sounds of it. I don't know of any treatments for this other than the spray mentioned before, and maybe chastising the dominant dog. I hope it wears off soon. There's not a !!!!! in season in the vicinity is there?
Some people only exist as examples of what to avoid....0 -
This is not unheard off. It differs between dogs as to how long this lasts, in some it's only temporary (on average it's a year) but in others it will alway be this way.
"A small percentage of male dogs become attractive to intact male dogs after being neutered. Other male dogs may become sexually aroused and try to mount your neutered dog."

Olbas oil was suggested as a deterrant.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I'm not aware of any female dog in the area being in season. And my dog is not at all dominant so I don't think dominance comes into it. The other dog must smell really enticing, the way mine carried on.0 -

I'll try the olbas oil. In fact I'll try anything. My dog has never even bothered with female dogs, let alone males, so I'm amazed to see him behaving like this.
I really hope it IS only temporary.:(0
