O/S Daily Monday 12th August 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone

Am still getting blocked messages if I try to include smileys but they seem to be working for some people, so am not sure what is going on.

Back in work this morning and it's only a week before DH is back in college, not sure where this summer has vanished to but it seems to have gone fast.

Have had an email from work over the weekend to say I am now one of the employee representatives for redundancy consultation. I feel like I have nothing to lose and will give the best I can for my fellow employees so I hope management and HR are ready for a good fight because I know I am. The first meeting is on Wednesday so have lots to do before then on my group's list of questions etc.

Cold omelettes for lunch and sausage meatballs with cream sauce and stir fried cabbage for dinner. Have resolved to get back to listing a couple of ebay items per day so will start that again tonight.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

    Morning all.

Reading your post TFM and the food has just reminded me to add potatoes to my shop list! DD1 wants potato pie as she wants some red cabbage! The things us mothers do.

We succumbed to a take away last night. Only because I had been sewing most of the day. I got my machine out and went for it. There are only two things left but only because these have to be hand done. I'll probably have the left overs for lunch.

Weather does not seem hopeful here. I might have to use the dryer as I really hate clothes lying around but tbh since I got the new washer they don't take as long due to the spin being good.

Still working through my list.... Have a good day all.

Have resolved to actually post every day rather than lurk !

Off for a look around the Broadstairs Folk Festival today and out to a family member for dinner.

Been a busy couple of weeks helping our son move into his house, decorating etc, am now reclaiming my rooms and sorted out the huge pile of CDs he left, not sure whether to try on eBoy or Amazoooon before Mmagpie. Had a great time sampling them whilst sorting out, have realised we dont share the same musical tastes

Hope all have a good day, my thoughts are with those who have problems with jobs/family/pets.

  • Good morning all,
Cloudy here today. Don't know if it is supposed to brighten up. We had a beautiful day yesterday, five loads of washing got dry. I was gathering everything in sight!
I did all of the housework yesterday, so nothing to do there today. I will probably sort out the hall cupboard. It is supposed to be used as somewhere to hang the coats and a sort of pantry. It has just been used as a dumping ground for everything. You can bet your life i will haul everything out and there will be a knock at the door.
Got to go and pick some beetroot from the allotment for tea and also fill another container with raspberries. We are getting quite a few raspberries in the freezer now.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning all,

Bit gloomy here today but meant to brighten up later on. I am off to my volunteering job today which involves standing up all day, I shall see how I get on, and come home at lunch time if I need to I dont want to let them down and I love going.

Dinner tonight will be a fry up, (well grill up really ).

OS today will be minimal as I am always shattered when I get home.

    Have good days all x

    Hugs to Jools xx

Would appear I cant do smilies either !

    Welcome Carolbee
Bit grey here today as well.
Not a lot planned for today apart from catching up on the housework.
I want to pop down to Wilkinsons first though, because they have started to reduce their summer stock and get some seeds for next year; apart from that, it is the same old, same old.

(((((Hugs))))) to all who need one

    BFN x

ps I have just had smilies blocked as well. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Hi all,
Still off work, don't go back until Friday. I have to admit I don't want to go back at all! :-(
Front porch is totally finished now, and I just need to gloss the woodwork in the downstairs toilet and then I'll be finished!
Want to do some baking today but I'm not sure what yet.
At the moment though I'm just watching last night's episode of The Mill and catching up on here!
Didn't see any meteors last night - hopefully might see some tonight though!

    Good Morning everyone

Welcome to Carolbee hope you enjoy it here, everyone has been so welcoming to me as a newbie I feel at home.

My neice's wedding went really well, just a small hitch in that the hotel had given away the bridal suite! They did offer to put her up in the room next to her mother lol. that's what you need on your wedding night isn't it! After a lot of discussion the hotel managed to sort it out so she was happy. I remember my wedding night, I was 6 months pregnant, crippled with SPD and just collapsed into bed and fell asleep without so much of a kiss and cuddle lol. Poor hubby, TMI alert, we made up for it the next day though (where's the blushing emoticon when you need it)

I am babysitting the grandchildren this morning so eldest DD can go for a driving lesson. She has her theory on Wednesday so is progressing well. I think DD's 13 and 12 are planning to go swimming this afternoon so it's just going to be me and DD10. I may do some baking with her but I jumped on the scales this morning and was absolutely horrified so if we do bake I shall not be sampling!

Poor old fat cat is on his last legs. He has had at least 3 strokes and I think he is starting to struggle. It is really hard to think about letting him go but I feel strongly that when it's his time, it is the last kind thing I can do for him. My heart is heavy though. The evil kittens however have surpassed themselves. They have sneakily been clawing at the wallpaper in the living room and now it looks awful. My hubby is muttering things about buckets of water but I know he doesn't mean it as he is a big softy. I am very hopeful that when they have their neutering they will calm down a bit.

Anyway, grandkids have arrived so I will have to log out.
Take care and as always gentle hugs to all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning everyone :)

Sunny here at the moment, hope it lasts as we are meeting friends for a picnic in the park at 1pm. Between now and then I need to Hoover, tidy and start packing as it never happened yesterday.

Tea will be bacon and noodle stir fry.

Hugs and spoons all round xx

    Carolbee welcome :)

Glitter kitty I've been trying to spot the Persids meteor shower and its been cloudy every night

Dumpling sorry to hear your kitty is on its last legs. Rather than bucket of water how about water pistol to stop evil kittens.

Judi is your water back on?
Hugs and spoons all round x
