Humax problems

Problem:
I have recorded a program. OH has watched half of it, then stopped and switched off. At a later date I want to watch the episode from the begining BUT the Humax will only play from the point it was switched off.
I can see from the bar at the bottom that it is half-way through the playing time of the episode. Yet it refuses to rewind from that mid-way point.
This has happened a couple of times now, and is very frustrating.
What is going on?

Hi had one or two problems myself when first using my Humax.
Are you switching off the recorder when it's still recording ? this will delete part of the recording. There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times

The entire episode was recorded, then viewed a week later. It is the playback that is the problem.
Nope, not recording then switching off halfway through the recording. I have the end of it in all its glory. I just cannot get to the beginning. B***r thing!!!!0 -

Very strange, is there a conflict with another program , or is the hard drive nearly full ?There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times

No conflict. The drive is at 90% full.0

I'd try freeing up some capacity on the hard drive and trying again. You're going to have to do that soon anyway with only 10% remaining freee space. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Fen1,
In order to receive any helpful and remedial advice from people on here, the first thing you need to do is specify just what type and model of Humax box it is.
You haven't even revealed whether it is a FreeSat (dish) box or a FreeView (aerial) box.
Whichever and whatever it be, I would recommend you at least try powering it down and then switching it off at the mains for a minute (at some time when it isn't scheduled to record anything! )
When you reconnect it to the mains, it will perform start-up checks and tasks that merely switching it "off" and "on" with the handset does not.
This is particularly so when the hard disk in nearly full. Its internal database can become confused. Doing the mains power routine can often sort that out. It has done, with our own Humax box.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

Thank you for all the replies. Am trying to go through all my recordings and deleting as I go. A bit of a slow process as we don't watch telly that much, thus the 90% load.
I'll try and do the traditional techi 'switch off and on again' routine.0 -
Which model? No free lunch, and no free laptop
