vauxhall lifetime warranty

Thank you all for your comments. On re-reading my original post I realised that I didn't mention that I called Vauxhall before the service was done to check that getting it serviced elsewhere was fine and was told it was not a problem. I also did try and haggle on the price with the dealer but was told there was no discount available.
On visiting the dealer today the member of staff said they could have done something on the price but when I quoted the date I had called and said i spoke with him he thought for a moment and then said that at the time they may not have been able to offer discounts but now they can.
I usually do use a local independent garage and they are excellent. However they said couldn't guarantee that the parts they use are Vauxhall approved so they recommended I go elsewhere. They still service and maintain our other car and several of my families as well.
The car was not bought just because of the lifetime warranty and had it offered as an additional extra it is doubtful we would have gone for it. However this is now a matter of principle for me in that I have been given incorrect information, whether intentionally or not. So I have emailed VAuxhall this afternoon with a complaint to get this issue resolved.0 -

Did you stress to Kwik Fit that they should only use Vauxhall approved parts and materials?0 -

To be fair, Vauxhall parts don't have anywhere near the mark up that some manufacturers do.0 -

From what I've read on the Vauxhall forums in the past, Vauxhall seem to care more about the grade of oil used rather than where it was purchased. I remember an issue with Arnold Clark a while back using the wrong grade when servicing.0 -
My cars MOT and three year service is due next month so just called round getting quotes, without even haggling I've been quoted £129.99 for the service and £27 for the MOT at a Vauxhall dealer. At those prices why even bother risking the warranty by going elsewhere.
Also included a free courtesy car or collect and return.0 -

I think it depends whether you value your car OR your service history.
If you want the logbook stamped and the car serviced by qualified 17yr olds with 6 months experience, go to a dealership, but if you want the job done properly by experienced mechanics, go elsewhere.
Why the lack of experience at dealerships? Because at dealerships, the admin staff run the show, usually dumb blondes and obnoxious extroverted salesmen telling the technicians what to do and treating them like cra4p, staff turnover at the technical level is almost always very high.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

This thread was about KwikFit, are you really suggesting they do a better job than a main dealer?0
