Coupon Embarrassment

I never get embarrassed about using coupons, just frustrated with how long it takes sometimes for them to be processed/the CA getting someone over/making a call for instructions.
I usually make sure the product i'm buying with the coupon is last on the checkout so it's to hand should there be any problems.0 -
Ask them to save their receipts for you, you can take them to customer services and gelt the points added to your card
I'd be careful with this as my DH used to get some of his colleagues to give him their receipts for petrol and other purchases at Mr T (they all travel around for work) until someone contacted him querying the varying nature of purchases and locations ...threatened to block our cards :eek:0 -
I actually I have a small carrier bag in my handbag full of coupon's that I pull out each time to see what money can be saved. Some coupon's have been turned down so I just take them elsewhere. I am shameless and don't get embarrassed using voucher's. My hubby cringes because am forever haggling where I can over prices lolWin's of 2014 so far-Maxfactor mascara, £50 Pizza Express Voucher, Dr Oetker Pizza, Nuby sippy cup :j:beer:0

good for you.
My response when people are being rude like that is to turn to them, smile broadly, and say something to the effect of, "when they're my pence, yes"
If the stores were set up better for coupons, and people were trained better, none of the fuss would happen. Hell, I've been held up behind someone who was fussing around organizing their trolley for longer than it takes to do coupons.
quite right waitrose although dearer to start with never have trouble with coupons they just scan them in seconds! and yellow stickered items almost always go straight through the till. if the can do it why not others??0 -
When I started a couple of years ago, I used to get embarrassed, but these days, that's worn off! And that's because I started to write down how much in coupons I've saved. In 2012, I saved £258 and last year (2013), I saved a whopping £423! I grant you that most of that was from Aldi £5 off a £40 shop (I try and shop for the month as I find I can get 2 or 3 £40 shop!) That's equivalent to a payrise for me! I also saved a fair amount in M&S using the £5 off £25 shop from greenredeem. I use them when they have their Dine-in deals so the savings are more valuable, and I can afford to get a little treat for us too.I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
It embarrassing because of what happens at the till sometimes. Other people behind you making comments, for instance, is embarrassing. I've also had coupons refused and once when trying to redeem an internet coupon in Asda had the assistant ring a manager who came over and said "We don't take photocopied coupons" over and over again in a loud voice even when I told him it was an internet coupon. I felt like a criminal! My sister is one of these people who says that redeeming coupons makes you look low class and poor!0

I had a similar experience in my A's, I find they are the worst for taking coupons. The guy was very rude to me, even saying 'come off it love, these are photocopies, and then accusing me of fraud!' I was livid so took my vouchers (all of which had different barcodes, had he bothered to check). Called HO once I got home and received a gift card for my trouble and embarrassment and a nice letter.
I will always stand my ground now, I am always careful to abide by what the coupon says, and to be honest, dont have much trouble any more, as I think coupon use is getting more common than ever!0 -
I would love the coupons to be taken like they do in America,no holds barred! i think at the very least, the supermarkets in the uk should take coupons if they sell the product, and not cos we've bought the product!0

Quite happy to use them. If I get a big bunch come through, I don't usually check them exactly and just hand them to the staff to see if they will go through the till. Never had a problem and it's great to see the total go down0

You wouldn't say that if you were the manufacturer of the goods.
When supermarkets accept coupons the manufacturer refunds them the cost of the coupon. The manufacturers do this to increase the sales of their product. If the supermarkets accept the coupons when the customer has not bought the product then the manufacturer has given the money away and got nothing for it.
They will soon stop doing that, then there will be no coupons.0
