I gave up on clarks this year, my 11 year old hardly wore the shoes I bought from there last year, so this year she got her way and has a pair of converse high tops for school. Alot of the kids seem to wear trainers and if these actually get worn I won't complainIts all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:0

We buy the dr,martins shoes and they last very well with a little polishing..Not cheap but they do last.It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
My husband picks the lads school footwear. Black leather hill boots, that lace up & take insoles as needed. School has a leaflet of recommended styles - under uniform trous, that they're boots isn't visible & the boys are safely, comfortably shod. At a cost, but the boys don't get trouble from school or any chance at backchat, shoeing...
Trainers & football boots I tend to get at the supermarket. Not stellar, but for one hour a fortnight I am not cutting into the funds for real boots!0 -
I see nothing's changed in the last 40 years!
My mum and I went through this annual trauma. In 1973, I wanted platform heels, but she was very resistant, as I'd 'break my ankles in those things'
For years after that I hated buying shoes, as it reminded me of all the stress and arguments
It's only in the last few years I've started to enjoy the shoe buying processEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
My dad used to threaten to have me soled and heeled. Now that I have 5 children of my own to kit out, I can totally appreciate the sentiment

No school shoe shopping here as DD has clunky great piedro boots from orthotics - would kind of like to be arguing over shoes.0

Ive bought the clarks foot guide so I can measure my 2's feet at home and order online, whenever we've gone into Clarks they seem to have loads of the ones with the toy in the heel-I let my daughter have them once and within a few weeks the insole was creased and uncomfy from her pulling it up to get the toy out. Never again!!
I'm gonna measure again in a week or so and order boths online and hope for the best lol.0 -
DD wore Startrite Mary-Janes, in fact the same style for years and years as he feet got bigger. Final couple of years at school she had Clarks as nothing else fitted uniform code and my expectations. I've since discovered she kept the 'school' shoes in her locker walked to school in her Vans or Converse then changed for the day.0

I've just shown my DD a picture of the Polyveldts I used to wear for school. Thanks to being blessed with big feet I had to travel 40 miles in the 80s to buy shoes. DD has inherited my big feet, thank God things have changed
