I'm not sure any of those people actually understand what AliExpress is.

For a start, it's an off-shoot of AliBaba.com - one of the largest Chinese trading portals.

What it isn't is Chinese eBay. It's intended for importers who already know what they are buying. It has the useful capability of offering full escrow on payments as low as one item. I have used the escrow to receive a part-refund in the event of one item in a batch being received faulty - there were no quibbles from the seller or AE about the refund, which was virtually automatic.

For smaller items, I would definitely recommend opting for sellers with free shipping - this simplifies cost comparison with the UK as well as any refunds.

Aliexpress is a great place to buy fakes, really good quality and very cheap.

And they don't pretend it's real either.
