Anything branded is a bit of a risk, but cheepo electricals computer stuff is ok, only nause is you have to wait a while

Cheap electrical are the worst, there was a grandmother who bought her grandson a charger for his Nintendo Ds that he could use while at her house, the little boy died from as electric shock the charger gave off. Thats just one of many stories
Chances are I'm in this thread asking questions as I love to learn new stuff. (Did you know all polar bears are left handed?)

There's been a story of a woman using a 'compatible' iphone charger who died answering her plugged in phone.

And probably this is why Apple are now giving away their chargers at reduced prices if you hand in a compatible.

Don't risk electricals or you might risk your life.

I wouldn't trust anything mains powered, or branded. Branded stuff is almost guaranteed to be a fake, and mains powered things are almost guaranteed to be dangerous. They're ok for low voltage passive stuff like cables though.

All the stuff in the shops, on ebay and on amazon is from china anyway, if you buy it from a HK seller you're cutting out the middleman.

Don't be put of by the BS scare myths.

The electrical stuff in the shops is (or at least should be) tested to British standard, the stuff you buy online from the Far East may or may not be.

I agree - avoid mains-powered stuff. Anything else comes down to value for money.

UK sellers of Chinese goods allow you to get hold of the same products quickly and easily (and return them in similar fashion, if necessary).

Alternatively, order up your own from AliExpress, where there is proper escrow and a more secure trading environment.

    The item isn't electrical.

I have never heard of AliExpress but the item I am thinking of getting is on there for the same price that I found, and it looks like the same pictures have been used as well.

Might as well risk it for £14.

What kind of 'item' is it ? If you let us know, then you can hopefully find out if it is regularly faked.

Before you buy from aliexpress, google them :

No way would I give them any of my money after reading that.
