I was going to suggest crushing A paracetomol in between 2 sppons and taking with a bit of jam. that's what my nan used to do with me. Depends on pain though, Paracetomol for bones, teeth headaces. muscles is ibuprofen
Unless you have any respitory problems then becareful with ibuprofen.
dicolfenic is an anti inflammatory not a pain killer. so wont do much good
This is exactly what my nan did to help me take paracetamol or with honey.0 -
I have dispersible cocodamol, they are brilliant. You can get Solpadeine (brand name) or Boots do their own brand behind the pharmacy counter. . Be careful with codeine though, it can be addictive. .
you also need to be vary careful when travelling with codeine based medications as certain countries won't allow use of it.0 -
Just take calpol it's paracetamol in liquid form. It has the dosage for adults on the box.0

You can buy soluble paracetamol tablets in any pharmacy. The unbranded versions are quite cheap and although it's not the most pleasant tasting liquid in the world, it is much cheaper than swallowing 4 teaspoons of Calpol (practically half a bottle!)
Don't be duped into buying soluble Panadol and the like, they are just expensive versions of plain old paracetamol.
If you really want to swallow tablets, try the capsules or caplets (capsule-shaped tablets.) They (the caplets) are scored so you can break them in half very easily, you won't need a pill cutter.
Codeine and diclofenac aren't really for everyday use, codeine is very addictive and can cause constipation and diclofenac is very irritating on your stomach, neither of these are for headaches and the like. Anyway, you can't buy codeine over the counter any longer. And Voltarol (diclofenac) is very expensive!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I'm in the "practise makes perfect to get over it" camp. I used to be terrible, but eventually got good with the "take a drink, swallow it, take another drink, don't swallow it, pop pill in, swallow" method.
Like toothsmith says, you can practice using sweets, try "millions" with milkshake, then if that works, there will be two millions sweets stuck together.
You can do it - because - without wanting to put you off your breakfast - when you think about being sick, your throat is capable of letting through an awful lot in the opposite direction,
I find capsules easier to swallow than actual pills. Caplets are the same shape as caplets but no shiny coating on them.
It's a useful thing to learn how to do, as you never know when you might be struck down with something that needs tablets that are a bit bigger.
