That means that someone is on the road for 8 weeks too long, due to a medical condition.

If you were waiting on a decision; don't drive in the meantime, at the possibilty of killing my Family.

You don't need to be told, you know within yourself if you are fit enough to drive; someone said you are not. You make the call. Until you get the decision.

Wow how melodramatic, considering you don't know the results of the medical or why it is required!

possibly has more effect on those with vocational licence categories?

IE...the category has been suspended pending medical evidence /assessment?

This has affected one or tow at-my-place-of-work......has not affected their B licence, but does [temporarily] affect other categories....has been known about for some time now.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Maybe me being 'melodramatic', regarding having a medical emergency, and being advised not to use a vehicle, until a sound diagnosis can be made; Maybe the people concerned had a repeat medical issue, and have now crashed? And in hospital/dead?

    Anyone??????? :p

That isnt always the case though, the DVLA can tell people they are safe to continue driving given their consultant has said they are safe to drive. The long term decision however is the DVLAs and the uncertainty between the consultant saying your fit and waiting the DVLA to confirm that can make people uncomfortable.

I have no idea what proportion of cases where the DVLA go against the consultants recommendations.

'Isn't always the case', and 'I have no idea', to me means that you are talking from your rear blow hole! no offense!

If anyone has an 'episode', at the wheel, that is referred to a doctor/dvla, then DO NOT DRIVE in the meantime, until it has been sorted properly.

A mate of mine from school years ago, had epilepsy, but was a few months from getting his driving license back, due to this. Went out for a party in Blackpool, and the minute he walked in the door, was fitting - had been fine for nearly 3 years.

It was his party, and most of his mates abandoned him, to carry on partying - I was the one to care for him, when I'd not seen him for years...so if an episode happens, what is to stop it a day after, a year after or 5 years after???? DON'T wait for someone to tell you, use common sense, oops sorry - that was thrown out in the C21st.
