Sky TV HD

hoping someone can help me with this

My "white sky+" box is playing up
so i looked on the sky website to see if i can it replaced and cant post the link, but its under my sky and boxes

So i dont really want the HD Channels, just want the box.
Fully capable of installing it myself and doing the set-up.
I am also willing to enter a new 12 month contract with my existing SKY TV contract

So i read the legal definition of the the offer:
Free Sky+HD box: Upfront payment may be required. One free box and standard set up per household. White Sky+ box households must take self-set up option. All other existing Sky+box households will receive free standard set-up. You’ll need to complete your self-set-up within 31 days of getting your box. Some HD channels are available without subscription New 12 month Sky TV minimum term applies for existing customers. Offer not available in conjunction with any other offers.

I understand the upfront payment is for the delivery charge.

The legal definition of the Sky+ box upgrade is as follows:
Sky+HD box: Existing Sky+HD box households are not eligible for a discounted box unless taking Sky Entertainment Extra+. Existing customers must agree to new 12 month minimum term for Sky TV. One free/discounted box per household. Sky+HD box up to £199 if you are not eligible for discounted price (Sky TV subscription required). A Sky+HD box can store an average of 60 hours of HD or 185 hours of standard definition programmes. HD ready TV required.

I only have 1 box in the house.

I'm also very happy with my exisiting telephone provider and broadband provider

So the query is, can they legally refuse my offer?

Speaking online to a rep they refused, and tried to get me to login to my sky account and accept the upgrade to entertainment + without even agreeing a HD box (highly dubious tactic)

speaking to my 1st telephone rep he could the offer and passed me to customer services who refused the offer when sorting delivery

Phoned 3rd customers services who promptly hung up on me.

After being a loyal customer of 23 years with SKY, Is it time for Virgin Media to make me an offer? is it highly available in my area and get junk mail every week about it

    call up and cancel
    when they ask why
say your box is broken and you cant afford a repair

Im not sure what you are going on about with legally refuse?
    madness
  • If they offering a deal, and set out the legal terms of the deal, and not willing to offer the deal on them terms.

They are trying to get me to take out a higher package.

Isnt it like upgrading your phone when out of contract and them saying no you have to take out a higher price tariff, even though you are never going to use those features.

Just blag a free replacement as described, or get one on eBay.
The equipment is not leased, it's your responsibility from day one, except for the 12m initial warranty cover.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
